Hello Kitty Phone Charm
We bought this for our niece on her birthday as she was getting her first mobile phone and is really into Hello Kitty products, so when we saw both this charm and a mobile phone cover in Hello Kitty on sale online we just had to buy them for her. If memory serves me right, this charm cost us a little £2.50 at the time which is really great.
The charm itself is a beautiful representation of Hello Kitty in a little dress and flower in her hair (or rather ears!) both in a lovely pale pink with slightly darker pink decorations upon it. I believe that there are a few different styles of this charm though the one we bought our niece is the same as the Dooyoo picture. The Hello Kitty also has lovely little wings and her face is marked in delicate black, creating a lovely all round look. The charm top has a silver hoop and small ball with a pink tie to attach to the phone strap.
The size of this charm is rather small and made of a thin yet solid metal.
Our niece has now had this charm for a couple of months and loves it. For the price I think it is a great little accessorily and lasts well. Although my nieces charm is still looking good as new, I can quite see it chipping if it is knocked around too much, though for a low price, this is not a bad thing.
One of these days I might grow out of liking cutesy childish things, but hopefully not any time soon! I'm a big fan of Hello Kitty and love the huge range of accessories and trinkets that are available. There seems to be a lot of Hello Kitty merchandise available on the high street at the moment, and my phone charm is a recent gift from my other half. I asked for this to be added to dooyoo so I could share how lovely it is, but unfortunately they have added a photo of a different item! Bear with me as I try and describe my particular phone charm, as it's a lot cuter than the one shown there ;)
The phone charm itself is a 3D shaped representation of Hello Kitty, cast in a silver coloured metal. There are pink sections coloured over to depict a little bikini and Kitty's pink hair bow, and her facial features are marked out in black. Kitty is in a basic standing pose and looks like she is ready for a day at the beach! The phone charm came packaged in a pink coloured metal tin in the shape of a heart, with a small clear window section that allowed the charm to show through. It is a very cute little package and you can use the tin for other things while Kitty is attached to your phone. The silver and pink colour design is quite sleek and does not look too immature or childish in my opinion.
Because there are such a vast number of rip-offs and fake Hello Kitty items, it can sometimes be difficult to tell if you are buying a genuine authentic piece. The easy way to tell is to check the item you are buying and see if there is a Sanrio mark on it. Sanrio is the company behind Hello Kitty and pals, so if you're looking at the real thing it should have their mark on there somewhere. In this case there is a (c) 1979 Sanrio Co Ltd. Mark on the back of Hello Kitty's head!
The phone charm is a reasonably small size, measuring in at approximately ¾" H, ¼" W, ½" D. However, because it is made of solid metal it is actually quite a weighty piece and a lot heavier than other similar accessories that I have owned before. My mobile phone is a cheap little plastic thing and having the charm attached makes a noticeable difference to the overall weight. However the small size balances it out nicely and it doesn't get in the way when using the phone keypad or making calls.
The charm is attached by a lobster claw connecting to a thin wiry thread which is fed through the appropriate part of the phone and secures around itself to keep in place. It is fastened safely to my phone and I have not had any problems with it coming loose. Because it is attached by a lobster claw clasp, you could actually remove the Hello Kitty charm and attach it to something else such as a zip pull, necklace or charm bracelet if the fancy takes you. I keep mine in place on my phone and she stays there looking cute and brightening my day.
I have been using this phone accessory for just over a month now, and it has sustained a little bit of superficial damage. There is a tiny chip to the pink colouring on Kitty's bow, and the Sanrio mark on the back of her head has very nearly worn away. This sort of thing isn't hugely troublesome, but I am surprised that it has suffered some wear and tear so soon after I started using it.
This sort of mobile phone accessory is obviously frivolous, as it serves no actual purpose other than for decoration. But if you like to personalize or customize your gadgets and belongings this little phone charm is an easy way to change the look of your phone without actually tampering with the phone itself. I think girls of all ages would love this, especially Hello Kitty fans of course! I'm not sure how much use this would be to a younger girl as they probably wouldn't have a mobile phone to put it on, but then again I am always surprised to see kids with mobile phones and maybe it is more common than I think it should be. I could see this making a nice stocking filler with the seasonal gifting period approaching, and it's already nicely packaged in a cute little heart gift box.
This is a lovely mobile phone charm that is well made and looks adorable. A perfect gift for any Kitty fan, or buy it as a treat for yourself. A nice simple way to brighten up your day!
