I purchased some Linen trousers from New Look last year and I loved them as they were really comfortable and I could dress them up or down. When in my local New Look store I noticed that the linen trousers were reduced to £12 instead of £19.99. I thought this was great value so I decided to try on and purchase a pair.
~ THE LINEN TROUSERS ~
The linen trousers come in 3 different colours which includes Black, Beige, and Chestnut and of course White. The trousers come in a size 6-18 and also come in different leg lengths which include a 30" and 32". I purchased some black linen trousers last year and never got a white pair so I thought I would try on a white pair today. I vary in trouser size so decided to pick up a size 10 and 12 to see which one's fitted me better. The trousers have front and back pockets and also have double button fastening rather than a zip. The trousers are also tie waist which means you can tighten them up if you need to. I tried on the size 10 but decided these were a little too tight for me so I ended up purchasing the size 12. These were slightly loose, how-ever they were comfortable and I felt they were a much better fit than the size 10. I purchased the 30" length trousers as I would wear these with flat shoes and I didn't want them to drag on the floor and get dirty.
I have worn the trousers a few times with a nice summer top down to my local pub and when going for a meal with my boyfriend. I have worn the trousers with flat sandals and the trousers don't drag on the floor. The trousers are slightly fitted but not too much. The trousers aren't too right around my waist, legs or bum which is good as it gives me room to move about in them. The trousers are really comfortable to wear and the tie waist is handy for making the trousers a little tighter round the waist. The trousers don't cling to my legs which is good as I didn't want tight, clingy trousers. I do find that after wearing the trousers for a few hours or a day they do become slightly looser, especially round the bum area. This didn't bother me too much thought as they still looked good to wear and I suspected they would be slightly tighter when washing them again. The trousers kept me cool, and weren't too hot when sitting in the pub garden. The trousers look really nice and summery and they also look slightly smarter than black linen trousers.
~ WASHING THE TROUSERS ~
Wash at 30 inside out with similar colours. These cannot be tumble dried and must be left to dry naturally or over a radiator. If these need ironing, iron on reverse. I washed the linen trousers inside out as suggested and I washed with other white clothing. They washed very well and came out looking as bright as they did when I first purchased them. I left the trousers to air-dry for a few hours and then decided that they did need an iron as they were a little too creased. I ironed the trousers inside out and they were perfect to wear again.
You do have to be careful when wearing white trousers due to spilling anything on them as I'm not sure how easy it would come out of the trousers. I am always really careful when I wear these but if I was ever to spill anything on them, I think it would be best if they were put in the wash as soon as possible to prevent staining.
I give these trousers 5 out of 5 stars as they look great in the summer and are really comfortable.
