I had a strapless wedding dress, so I needed to buy a good strapless bra to go under it. I can never normally find a decent strapless bra as I am relatively well endowed, but when I was trying on several different bras in Debenhams I came across this one.
=== Why Wonderbra? ===
Most of the bras I tried on were the type of bra that have the option to have straps. Only when I took the straps off they didn't feel like they were giving the support I needed. I needed a bra that was comfy, fitted well, and stayed in place for the entire day. Pulling a bra up all day was not what I had in mind!
I ended up trying this bra on in a few different sizes to figure out what size fitted me best. I then tried the mandatory 'jump test' to ensure that it was nice and secure and I wasn't going to 'pop out'. All this being well I purchased the bra for about £28.
=== The Bra ===
The bra is different to the others on the market in that it actually has plastic in the cups to help keep you secure. The plastic moulding makes it feel like you have a pair of hands holding you in the right place - Neither too high or too low from where you want to be. There is also the standard rubbery band that you get in most strapless bras running around the inside to help keep the bra in place. There is no option to add straps. There are a small variety of colours, I opted for the nude with lace detail.
It is comfy to wear, though does feel a little different due to the plastic 'hands' holding you in place. This took me a little getting used to. I did actually wear it a couple of times before the wedding day to make sure it was not going to fail me. I discovered I probably should have bought a back size up. This was easily fixed though I just added on a bra extender to make the back that tiny bit bigger.
The bit in the middle comes up high enough to give support, so I'm not sure how it would look with low cut strapless tops - I don't wear anything too low cut, I'm too self conscious!
=== Negatives ===
Feeling that I need an extender as felt a little tight. When I tried the size up from the one I bought it didn't feel tight enough.
The bra is hand wash only. Which is a little annoying, but no real biggie as it doesn't take much to hand wash in the sink. Another minor thing is that it takes up more space in my drawer than my other bras.
=== Summary ===
A good bra. Was very comfy once I put the back extender in place for that little bit more breathing space. I've worn this bra several times since the wedding and it works really well with any strapless outfit.
I was bought a wonderful strapless top for Christmas but I don't usually wear anything strapless as I have never found a decent strapless bra and ended up spending all night hoisting my bra up (not the prettiest sight in the world and not what you need to be worrying about when trying to have fun). So, as much as I love my top, I had the dilemma of never wearing it or making a hefty investment into a decent strapless bra. The first bra company I could think of was Wonderbra, all other companies are more fashion bras than anything and Wonderbra always seemed to have the functionality tag to it.
I went along to my local Debenhams and found one of the Wonderbra Ultimate Strapless bras in black and tried it on, a 32D on the tightest clasp fitted my 30D shape perfectly and gave me some boost as a nice added bonus. The bra is a molded shape so it doesn't even look like I am wearing a bra when it is on and the material is very comfortable. I bought it straight away and haven't looked back.
I plunged the bra in at the deep end as my first time wearing it was new Year's Eve night out. Straight away I wasn't haven't to think about hoisting my slipping bra up as it stayed in place. After a couple of drinks and busting some moves on the dancefloor the bra was still perfectly in shape and there was no hint of an embarassing slippage in sight. I have worn the bra a few other times during the day and it is still sitting perfect after six months of usage. I have yet to do the ultimate test of running while wearing it though but I think that may be pushing it a little.
If you want a bra that is going to hold you in place without starting to fall at any point during the night then invest in a Wonderbra Ultimate Strapless.
I purchased this bra on recommendations from other people, and I'm so glad I invested the money in it. I paid about £26 from Debenhams (I probably could have got it cheaper online, but wanted to try it on first).
Firstly, the looks. Well, they're not much to look at really. It is not a sexy bra, and vaguely resembles scaffolding. But then thats not the point of this. The point is purely functional. It is a true strapless bra in the sense that it doesn't even come with straps and there is no option to add them. It has a good amount of plunge for wearing strapless dresses or plunge tops, and minimal padding. Instead are the hand shaped supports which mean the cups are quite stiff, but this means they are super-supportive. The bra is quite wide below the cups, and has the plastic gripping all around. Another good thing is that unlike cheaper multiway or strapless bras, the cups aren't really deep. I'm quite small busted, and in these cheaper bras even if I buy the right size the cups gape loads. But not with the Wonderbra. Aswell as staying up, it manages to push them up just the right amount too!
If you haven't already, check out the Wonderbra videos of the women dancing in it and its not airbrushed or tweaked - It really does work like that. I recently wore this bra under my wedding dress and I'm not lying when I say I didn't need to hoik it up once! Not once in 14 hours. And this included bending, sitting, standing, and several hours of dancing!
I regularly wear this of a weekend with all sorts of clothes (strapless, racer back, cross back, backless etc) and its so comfortable you forget you're wearing a strapless bra. I'll never buy a different strapless bra again!
Strapless bras are a nightmare. Finding one that fits right, gives the right amount of support, one that doesn't flatten the chest area, one that, er, flatters the area and most importantly, one that stays up! After discovering strapless tops and dresses, I needed a strapless bra that worked well. I discovered this one whilst researching them and seemed to have the best reviews out of all of them, so after some thought (I mean, £30 for a bra isn't exactly cheap...) and watching the... interesting... Youtube videos of a lovely lady jumping around in her underwear to demonstrate how awesome it was, I finally decided to buy one.
It definitely isn't the prettiest bra I've ever worn but boy does it do a good job. I felt supported, my breasts were held in place (and no, they didn't move at all!), and I had amazing cleavage to top it all off. I've never worn another strapless bra and I wouldn't want to after wearing this one - I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a bra to go with a lovely strapless top or dress.
However, I do have one complaint. Wonderbra don't exactly have a wide range of sizes and this bra is no exception. I am a large lady with equally large breasts and this was just a tiny bit too tight on the band size. I still wear it on special occasions when going strapless is necessary but I can't say its the most comfy bra I've ever worn. Still very much recommended though - especially if you are a slimmer lady.
I've always had trouble with strapless bras, as I'm rather gifted in the bust department!
This wonder-bra is the best strapless bra I have ever bought! It has plastic "hands" within the cups that literally hold you in place, as though hands were there! I always feel really secure in mine, and it doesn't feel like if you move it will fall down. Gives great cleavage too.
Many of my friends have the same bra too, and each of them find it brilliant.
It is plunging enough to wear fairly low cut clothes with it too, without being so low cut that it loses support.
The material is also really smooth and the bra itself is really comfortable. In the past, in order to feel secure I've had to wear strapless bras that are too small, but with this one it fits like a glove and I can wear it all day and night without the slightest bit of discomfort!
As a student at first I was a bit apprehensive at blowing what was essentially 2 weeks of food on a bra. BUt I have quite large breasts and have always found that cheaper, high street stapless bras fail to hold anything up. I went into John Lewis and tried it on, and doing the bounce test (jumping up and down in the changing room) it seemed to be holding everything in place. I decided to take the plunge, and splurge, and boy, am I glad that I did. Not only does this support everything perfectly, but it gives my chest a really nice shape. The fact it was black, meant that I could wear with the black knickers I already owned to give me a nicely matching set of underwear. I also have to add, that even after a night of dancing, I had only had to pull up and rearrange the bra 2 or 3 times!
I was searching for a bra to wear to my prom when I came across this Wonderbra. At around £30 it was quite expensive, a lot more than I would usually pay for a bra, but I thought if it could give me a bit of lift and stay up all night while wearing my delicate strapless dress, it would be worth it. I splashed out and was very excited to try it on when it arrived. At a 32A I have small boobs and was hoping that the 'hand like support' would give me some cleavage, I imagined it would be like I was pushing my breasts together with my hands. I was disappointed to find that if anything it made me look more flat chested, as in order to stay up it was very tight and just sucked in what little boob I do have. I sent it back soon after, it was not flattering at all on me! On the plus side, you could tell the bra was a good quality and to be fair, after a bit of jumping around it didnt budge. If I was a bigger breasted woman I think it would have been ideal for a night dancing in a strapless dress but for a girl with no cleavage it really does not help! Small busted ladies beware!
I am a big chested woman, so I always struggle to find strapless bras. You know the problems, finding one that fits, finding one that gives a good shape, finding one that stays up, finding one that is padded etc...
My dad's wedding was May this year and I had the most beautiful pink halterneck dress to wear. Now if I were smaller in the chest department, I would have gone bra-less, but sadly for me this is never an option. I hunted high and low at the usual haunts (La Senza etc) for a good strapless bra, when I came across an advert for the new ultimate Wonderbra. I don't normally wear wonderbras, but I know and trust the brand.
I came across this wonderbra in Debenhams for £28, which isn't cheap but it is reasonable. It comes in black or nude, and I opted for nude as my dress was pink and I thought black would show through. The advert boasts that the bra is shaped like hands and is very supportive, and it is right. I was actually really surprised at how well the bra fitted. I was expecting to go up or down a size as per some of the reviews I have read, but I was actually my usual size in this bra.
The bra has a rubber 'rim' at the top of the cups to help it stay up. You can't feel it and unlike other bras, it doesn't dig in. It is firm and supportive and importantly, seamless. You can wear it under just about anything. The bra is very well padded - it isn't obvious, but it is well padded and does give fantastic shape even to larger chested women. It is very comfortable to wear, much more comfortable than any other strapless bra I have tried. The back strap is also firm and supportive but not tight or uncomfortable.
I was able to dance, run, jump up and down, pose for photos, lift my toddler etc. all without the bra slipping or moving at all. It was incredibly supportive and comfortable, and I was actually really surpised as I wasn't expecting ANY bra to be supportive when it was strapless. Very pleasantly surprised!
I have worn the bra since, quite a few times under vest tops and even t-shirts. It gives fantastic support and shape, and looks really nice as opposed to thick bra straps being on show all the time!
Pricey but I would definitely recommend it. It is definitely the ultimate strapless!
I was sceptical about buying another strapless bra-never found one that suited for comfort or adequate lift.
Had to go down a cup size in this brand and it does tend to slide down and limit your support. Unique design with foam hands adds an element of fun to the product, whilst making practical sense for the support and lift.
Unusual feeling at first as the lower structure to the bra(where the under-wire is normally located) is quite wide and rigid. Can be slightly uncomfortable when adjusting the height of the bra once its on.
I have found this bra is actually more suited to daytime use, despite the product emphasises its merits for up all night dancing etc. Great for those awkward summer tops which show most or all of your back. However I have bought a more bust boosting strapless gel bra for evening tops as the wonderbra strapless didn't give quite the lift without regularly re-adjusting.
I'm usually not a fan of strapless bras but this one is actually very comfortable and surprisingly it stayed in place very well. The hand print (not sure what else to call it) pushed my boobs up and made them look good which not having huge boobs was a plus as most strapless bra's make them seem none existent.Slightly more expensive than I would usually pay but definitely worth the money I would highly recommend it. I also like that it comes in a lace pattern and have now bought this too.
In my opinion, every woman should own a strapless bra. Infact - one of every type of bra! Dresses are becoming a lot more adventurous in styles so to make sure it looks drop dead gorgeous, you want to keep those bra straps away!
I have always been a fan of Wonderbra as I have quite a small (in my opinion) chest, meaning I want to do everything in my power to make my boobs appear bigger. Although, one thing I have found is that even larger chested women can be held up and supported by this bra!
I personally love the look of it and I feel as though I am completely snug so it will not fall down. Wonderbra do have more in their range of strapless, backless and other bras with a signature padding inside. Not only does the top rim of the bra have a rubbery strip to hold it up easier, there is padding in the shape of a hand so it feels as though you are holding yourself up. The bra appears completely invisible through clothing and still manages to make you look chesty even if you do not have much there.
I purchased a gorgeous one shouldered peach dress for a wedding meaning I had no choice but to buy a ivory coloured bra as the black would of probably been seen through. I love the fact you can also buy lace versions too which would be perfect for a more sexy night out. My bra came from Debenhams in a sale last year. It is usually £36 which I think is quite expensive, but in the sale it was only £20. It is definately worth the £36 price tag though as it is such good quality!
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how this bra held up under my already a little heavy dress. It did not slide down or move at all even though I was dancing and being moved around all over the place due to the nature of the day. It also made my boobs look rather big compared to what my old strapless bra used to do.
I would recommend this bra, even though the price might seem a bit steep it is worth it and you will probably keep it for years.
Every woman needs a strapless bra, especially for when wearing dresses that are impossible to wear a regular bra. This is the only strapless bra I own, as I don't often need to wear one.
I bought the bra in black, as I find black to be a sexy colour. The bra mimics a polycarbonate hand in each cup, so that it feels like you are holding yourself up. The hands are invisible from the outside, which looks completely seamless with or without clothing. It also has silicone banding, for extra non slip support.
I bought this bra off the Very website for £36, now for me this is extremely expensive and I wouldn't normally pay over £20 for a bra, but as my mum recommended this and whenever she wears it, her cleavage is always given great support and such a lovely natural looking shape, I just had to try it for myself. My bra size is 32/34 C/D depending on different stores and my size tends to change throughout every store. My mum has much larger breasts and was surprised that a strapless bra would be able to give that much support whilst still being comfortable.
When I got the bra I was very excited to try it out, as the only reason I wanted one was to wear on nights out when wearing strapless or tight dresses and didn't want my breasts to look bunchy under my clothing. Since buying the Strapless Bra I can honestly say I wear it the most, not just with dresses but also for every day wear. Its extremely comfortable and the support it gives you is incredible. Seeing as it's strapless I was worried about them falling out or the bra sliding down, whilst doing normal every day activities and also if your wearing it for a night our you need all the support you can get due to all the dancing and falling over. This is the most comfortable bra I have yet to wear, its fantastic and makes your breasts look divine underneath clothing. Its gives great uplift and plunging your breasts together, to give a more defined and beautiful chest. I must say once you try this bra, your never look back, I definitely haven't.
This bra is made out of 48% polyamide, 42% polyester, 10% elastane. Its comes in two shades Black/Lace and Ivory/Lace. It is hand wash only, I haven't tried to machine wash this, as I'm worried about the shape and colour being effected, It's very easy to clean and dries well when left to dry naturally.
Overall this bra is absolutely fantastic, it's comfy, supportive, looks great and feels incredible. Highly recommend this product, the only downside for me would be the price, but for the high quality it's an excellent deal.
Strapless bra's are the bane of elegant strapless or halter neck dresses and tops. As soon as you dance your worried about them disappearing with your modesty along with them. Heading for a cruise where formal wear is a necessity I trawled the high street for a new strapless bra hoping to find a miracle.
Wandering through Debenhams something made me stop at the Wonderbra section, something I don't normally do since a black velour monstrosity I had in the 1990's. I looked over and saw a strapless bra - but one that looked quite sturdy!
These bra's aren't underwired but rely on a moulded shape with "uplifting hand" technology. There is about and inch and a half of band below so it isn't the smallest of bra's but this gives it a sleek retro 1950's look. I'd suggest trying it on. I'm a size 14, 34C though I went for a 36 here as it is snug round the middle. It's made from a soft satiny material. The low plunge is great for strapless dresses and there is a hint of cleavage which doesn't usually occur with strapless bra's.
It wasn't cheap but inexpensive at £20 with £10 off the rrp in Debenhams. I've worn it a few times both for dancing and a sit down formal dinner - it lets you eat! It hasn't let me down yet and I'm thinking of investing in different colours, I have the plain black at the moment.
It's not super comfy as its tight in order to stay up but its comfy enough not to really notice it for a whole night out. It more than makes up for this with a great shape and a feeling of supreme confidence!
With larger than average boobs, it has always been an absolute nightmare trying to find a strapless bra that fits, looks nice and actually manages to support me. I'm only 20 years old and I had resigned myself to never wearing strapless clothes, until I saw this on sale and thought I may as well give it a try. Much to my surprise, the bra is amazing!! The fit is beautiful, really supporting and the bra hardly moves, no matter how much dancing you do! The plunge front is ingenious and manages to even give a bit of cleavage (not something I ever thought possible with a strapless bra!). Perfect for lower cut tops and dresses. The design is brilliant as even with clothes off the bra actually looks really sexy, not like most strapless bras for bigger busts that just look massive and ugly! Although slightly more expensive than other strapless bras, this one is well worth the money. Well done Wonderbra!!!
I brought this in December for an Xmas party and since I have used it loads for any girl has a large bust it is an absolute must have! Since I brought it I have used it loads and now I can get away with wearing strapless tops,dresses playsuits etc!!! I am a size 14 and I am 34 ff so as you can imagine I thought there is no way I can get away with a strapless bra. I had tried loads of different types of strapless bras last year when I was a bridesmaid an too be honest, if your bigger than d cup the bras on offer are always shall we say "a little dull", the wonderbra ultimate is so simple but so effective!!! The bones in it seem a lot thicker and at the sides they have 3 extra supportive sides to give you the best cleavage!!
I paid about £30 for it but I think it may have cum down a little since then, deffinatly give it a go as you can even wear it under t-shirts etc without getting a four boob effect!!!
