Advantages: Very resilient, great cut for a fuller figure

Disadvantages: Price

Yves Saint Laurent has been in the fashion business for over 40 years, having been thrust into the limelight at the precocious age of 18, to take over the job of head designer at Christian Dior, following Dior's death. He the went and sent up his own label, and is probably singlehandedly responsible for making suits for women respectable in the world of couture. As one fashion writer put it slightly ineloquently "He took the dyke out of a woman wearing a trouser suit".

Over the course of time his designs has revolution fashion, with his assorted labels. For men I am particularly fond of his pour Homme range, and in particularly the casualwear. Sadly this has now been widely dispensed with or become part of the St Laurent Jeans range, which has drifted towards a very middle of the road mass produced range, although it is more affordable than previously.

I have have everything by Yves St Laurent in my time, from suits (see below), underwear, socks, trousers, shirts, jumpers and ties and have found his cut to be the most flattering for my "slightly fuller figure".

The Suits I have had have been incredible value. I bought them in Moss Bros in Covent Garden, and one of them has given me three years frequent wear and still looks very respectable. Another one is more lightweight, as has happened, and is a wonderful suit, and well cut to suit me. With the suits especially in Moss Bross, I would advise people to look for the right size for them but to ignore the length of leg. For 10 pounds extra you can have the trousers altered, so that you have a killer suit.

If I had more money I would literally stockpile his clothes, as they are timeless and I have had shirts that have suffered abuse eg. curry, beer etc down them, but which still look very very smart. You pay a lot for pour homme range wear, but it is very much worth it in terms of the longterm value of the items.
