This top is lovely and one I highly reccomend. I bought this from Topshop initially to wear for a night out with an old school friend, and because I felt so comfortable in it, liked how it looks on and got so many compliments on it I have worn it to alot of special occasions ever since.
The design is simple but has a chic and classy look to it, while the zip detailing at the back adds a bit of a 'rock' look to it, so it balances between both labels and isn't too preppy/doesn't look ridiculously smart. The material (100% polyester) feels soft and silky, it's nice and smooth and very lightweight which makes the top ideal for summer. The vest looks alot more expensive then it actually is - i'd say it could definetly pass as a designer top. The top is sleeveless, with thick straps which don't fall down like alot of other strappy tops.
The neckline is scooped, and quite low cut. It exposes alot of cleavage which is good for a night out but on more casual days when I want a casual outfit it's not always ideal so I layer it with a plain vest underneath and it looks good.
I don't wear this underneath cardigans or jackets because the zip at the back hangs down freely and doesn't look great poking out the bottom of a jacket, but I do like the zip detail and the black zip trail is really unique and cute, adding lots of personality to the vest.
I love wearing this with a nice skirt and nice jewellery and it looks so classy and elegant, but it can be dressed down too and if paired with a simple pair of shorts it really makes the whole outfit look much more dressed up and looks like alot of effort has been put into the outfit.
The detailing on the front makes the top look baggy and oversized but it fits well and doesn't look shapeless or unflattering, and the baggy hem makes it good for tucking into shorts, jeans and skirts. Even if I don't tuck it in it still looks good and it is just about long enough to wear with leggings. On the picture it looks like quite a slouchy type of vest but in looks so much better on!
The vest is available in a few different colours - cream, yellow and blue are the ones I am aware of but my friend has a similar one in grey, but i've not asked her if it's a Topshop one so i'm unsure. I have the lemon one which is a lovely summery shade. It is a very light shade of yellow - almost cream - but it is still obvious it is yellow.
I have worn this several times now and it looks good when matched with almost anything, but I personally am trying to keep it just for special occasions because at £28 i don't want it to get worn out too quickly as these tops are £28 each so not the cheapest item of clothing to replace, but considering the versatility of this, the comfortable material and how good the vest looks when on, it is worth the price tag in my opinion.
