solid good quaility printing (Brother MFC 5860CN)
Member Name: clarejenkins
Advantages: sturdy Disadvantages: large foor print, heavy, odd paper feed
I have had my printer/fax/scanner for 2 and a half years now - it replaced an earlier Brother model with the same functions. Although it is chunkier than other makes, it has on the whole been reliable, although just at the moment it seems to be having a funny time and is not printing without being turned off and then on again. However, the back up service is excellent and if it cannot be sorted out by resetting over the phone, the engineers come out very swiftly. On the down side is the strange 2 tiered paper feed arrangement which is probably more useful if you are wanting to use two different types of paper, or papers and label sheets. The paper feed doesn't really get on with the heavier duty printing paper, which is disappointing as the previous model was ok with that. On the plus side the paper feed is fully enclosed in two drawers. This means that odd things don't fall into the top and jam things up (which happened with the last one occasionally). Quite a large footprint and quite heavy to shift around to get jammed paper out of the back. Print quality is very good with options for different quality and paper types. Ink usage is not too bad and cartridges are easily obtained from Viking Direct etc. Summary: does the job - not too fancy
