Epson Stylus DX4000
Well were can I start with this printer. Its an all round great product, it has many different functions and features which will help any ser along the way to making you pictures or images better and processing your paperwork quicker. Whilst using this printer I found that it was very easy to use from the very simple buttons that are on the top of the printer towards the left. All of the buttons are very easy to use and you really couldn’t go wrong with it.
The Epson DX4000 offers a complete printing and copying solution for all of the family. Its ideal for nearly everything. Its compatible with all applications and can be used for school projects, web designing, right down to photo printing. It can be used connected to your computer or you could use it as a standalone printer that allows you to copy documents in black and white or colour. Its your choice. The printer is very easy to use and will meet everybody’s needs.
Well here is some of specification of the printer.
The black cartridge has 90 nozzle heads
The colour cartridges each have 29 nozzle heads
The print resolution 5760 x 1440 dpi
It can print up to 23 pages per minute in black text size A4
It can print up to 12 pages per minute in colour text size A4
It takes approximately 94 seconds to print a high quality photo image in colour.
The DX4000 takes approximately 5.3 seconds to copy an A4 sheet of black text
The DX4000 takes approximately 12.1 seconds to copy an A4 sheet of colour text
The printer has a scan resolution of 600 x 1200 dpi
All of the things above are what makes this such a great printer. It has very fast printing and copying times for both black and white and also colour. The printers paper tray can hold up to one hundred sheets of A4 at any one time which is quite a lot considering it’s a home printer and not designed for industry etc. the printer can print on to a range of paper sizes which make it even better for the user as they may want to print smaller things or may even want to print on to photo paper etc.
The thing that makes this printer even better is that it can run on almost any operating system. It can run on Windows 98SE / ME / 2000 / XP / Mac OS 10.2.5 or later. It can run on a great amount of operating systems and since XP is now the most widely used operating system that is even better for the user. The printer is also quite large for a printer because it is an all in one meaning it can print, scan and copy. The DX4000 has dimensions 430mm(w) x 345mm(D) x 172mm(H) and it also has a very light weight of 5.7kg, which means it will be very easy for you to move around etc.
I think that this is an excellent printer because of all of these features because its very fast, can copy, scan and also print which is everything that I need. I feel that Epson could improve on this model by maybe having an LCD screen at the front showing information about what you are doing and maybe allowing you to change the dpi of what you want to scan etc. also maybe to make it even better they could install a media card reader into the printer and allow you to print pictures straight from the memory cars or from the camera.
The printer ha a high resolution and great quality printing which makes this printer very good and makes me want to use it even more. Whenever I want to print off some family photos Iall I have to do is get on my computer and print them off with the DX4000 this way they look like original photos if I use the correct paper and therefore there is no need to go and spend a fortune at the photo developing shop.
Eventually the printer will run out of ink but what printer doesn’t. Ink can be bought from most good computer stores and even from the internet. In the shops ink can be purchased for around £6.99 a cartridge. There are four cartridges in a printer so in theory if I wanted to replace all of my ink at the same time then it would cost me £27.96. but if this is too expensive for you then there are some sites on the internet that will do them for cheaper for each cartridge which will cost you around £15.00 for a set of ink, you would also be able to get the cartridges from places like computer fairs where ink will also be cheaper. This way it saves you a lot of money so that the printer becomes even more cost effective.
I find that buying cartridges from these kinds of places saves me a lot of money so that I can spend them on other things. There is a site on the internet that sells ink called ink cartridges direct that allows you to purchase ink for cheaper and every time you purchase a set of ink they send you an extra black cartridge for free, now that I have found this website I find that I’m never low on ink and its great.
The printer itself is great value for money as well because it can be bought from Epson directly for £59.99 which means that it will be cheaper in other places such as Amazon.co.uk and other computer sites. I purchased my printer less than six months ago and I have never had a problem with it since the day I got it. It comes with a driver and utility installation disc that takes you through the process of installing your printer although most XP operating systems will install it automatically for you.
The printer is great value for money and I would recommend it to anybody who is looking for a great, cost effective all in one printer.
Thank you greatly for reading my review and hope to be hearing from you soon.
Summary: Great Printer
