Advantages: Easy to operate; produces great results
Disadvantages: The cost of the ink cartridges (£37 for a complete set from PC World)
I recently had to return an Epson all-in-one printer to PC World because it had become unreliable; that same model was no longer available (although it was less than a year old), so I chose a different one as a replacement. This was after having to convince PC World that I could not wait to have the faulty one sent away for repair.
I chose another Epson because I am more than happy with their printers. I still have my very first one - the Epson Stylus C66, which I have reviewed here on Dooyoo - which I keep connected to my PC for small printing jobs - but needed one that had the scanner/copier and fax facilities too.
I am very happy with my new printer. It is quite large and I had to rearrange my office to accommodate it but, so far, it is earning its keep. It produces excellent photographs - from either a memory card or the PC, with a quality much higher than the Epson Stylus C66, and the copying and scanning functions are very easy to use; so easy, in fact, that I have only had to refer to the instruction manual once.
The printer is manufactured in matt black so co-ordinates with most office colour schemes, and has a very high-tech looking flip-out control panel with a display screen, which shows you the options menu as well as the instructions for the various functions.
The speed of this printer is amazing; it is a lot faster than my C66 and the all-in-one printer that it replaced. It produces crisp clean copies of everything that it is asked to copy, scan or print. The ink cartridges are very easy to replace. The paper tray that collects the printed documents is a decent size and the back stand - against which the unused paper rests - is high enough to stop that irritating tendency paper has to curl.
This printer is a bit noisy when you first ask it to print, but prints and ejects the paper very quietly. Scanning and photocopying are also very quiet.
The scanning and copying facilities are so simple that you do not have to keep referring to the instruction manual; the little colour screen is bright and sharp and easy to read.
Sending faxes with this printer is really quick and easy and you also have the option to print the fax reports, which is very useful if you want to be sure your fax has reached its destination.
I am very pleased with my all-in-one printer; so far it has lived up to all the demands made upon it.
The ink cartridges for this printer can be purchased at PC World for £37.99 per set of four (one each black, magenta, cyan and yellow), but I have seen them online for a little less.
This printer retailed for around £120 when I first obtained it but, of course, I didn't have to pay because it was exchanged for my returned printer (which originally cost £99.
I would definitely recommend this printer both for ease of use and printing quality.
Summary: Perfect copies every time, and fast, too
