Advantages: Reliable Productive and Good Quality Output
Disadvantages: Noisy and Small Paper Tray
Have been using the HP ALL in ONE 2840 in the office for over a year now. It was bought primarily for higher volume printing and to switch to a laser machine.
The machine itself works fine and has never broken down in this period, one problem we had with the installation was getting the scanner operational, since HP support could only recommend sending a new install cd, we opted to just to leave it working for printing fax and photocopying and use an alternative machine for scanning.
Ultimately whether the machine is good value depends on the refill costs and volume it prints, for this I can only tell you the cost and the volume as I have nothing of similar nature to compare it with:
HP Genuine Cartridges:
Toner: £135 ex Vat - 5000+ pages
Black: £ 65 ex VAT - 5000+ pages
Yellow: £ 80 ex Vat - 5000+ pages
Cyan: £ 80 ex Vat - 5000+ pages
Magenta: £ 80 ex Vat - 5000+ pages
Compatible Refills:
While compatible refills typically work out at about 25-30% cheaper, please be aware that when we used these refills the toner refill cause lines down the centre of the pages printed, this only ceased when we replaced the Toner Refill. While this may have just been one unfortunate refill since this time we have reverted to using HP Genuine.
Regarding ppliers we have used Euro Office Lyreco and Staples for our orders and it does seem that Euro Office tends to have the best prices for these products.
Summary: Good machine but compare cost and volume of consumables with similar spec machines.

- 22/09/09 Is it an easy to use machine in terms of photocopying and printing? The one bugbear I have with multipurpose printers/photocopiers is that they can overcomplicate things and confuse the consumer. |
