Advantages: very good quality printing,
Disadvantages: dodgy top feeder
The HP Laserjet M1522nf is a multifunction printing / scanning machine. The main use of this machine in our office is as a photocopier. It was chosen as it was one of the only laser printers capable of photocopying that we found that only has black capability.
It is networkable, and I have used it over the network as a printer and a scanner. You can also use it as a fax but I haven't had an opportunity to try faxing yet.
The print quality is excellent, and there are a minimal number of jams. At first, the number of buttons on the font can be overwhelming but are logical.
The machine doesn't hold a huge amount of paper (250 sheets), so it will need to be refilled often.
The build quality is generally good, but I found that the top feeder (made of plastic) is not of good build quality. It snapped off within the first few weeks as it is held on by two tiny pieces of protruding plastic, which once broken make it almost impossible to use the top feeder. Also, it is not easy to fix by yourself.
A good machine for a home office as long as the top feeder is treated well.
Summary: Good Quality Printing, good range of features but with a dodgy feeder.

- 07/01/09 Very good start here but what about how fast/slow it prints, ease of changing the toner, how long the toner lasts and how much toner costs for this. I'm also a bit disappointed you didn't try the fax facility, but that's not so important. I would also have liked to have heard about how the scanning works and other things like if you need special software to use the scans. |
