Advantages: price, stand alone , user friendly
Disadvantages: expensive carts
What can I say. I work from home in a small office, so space is a premium. I had a printer, scanner & fax all cluttering my space. I deceided to get the officejet 5110 as it was cheap and did everything I needed. The quality of the printing is good, even photo prints onto photo paper come out well. One of the major benefits for an all-in-one is only ONE PLUG! With the 5110 you can receive & send faxes even if your computer is switched off. Some of the cheaper all-in-ones require that the computer is on, which is daft. It is easy to use, and can scan copies of all faxes you send, which I like. The software has a programme where you can divert your fax for a specific time & period to any other number, which is great. For example, I am travelling to my parents house for a longweekend. I tell the 5110 to divert all incoming fax numbers to my parents fax number from 5pm Thursday to 5pm Sunday. That way if any important faxes come in you can be certain of receiving them and not having an issue when you return. The carts are expensive, but hopefully they will come down in price in time. Unblocking paper jams is easy, as there is a big panel at the back that allows easy entry into the gubbins. It really is easy to use, you can batch send faxes i.e. from your computer on screen prompt for the 5110 you can select 4 people from the conact list (it uses the contact list already on your computer, and if you use Outlook for e-mail it will use those contacts, which is great) click on the send button and it will scan your fax and then send it off. I.e. you don't have to physically put the fax through the machine 4 times. In all I am very pleased with the machine. p.s. with people with similar machines you can send your faxes to them in colour, which is cool!!
