I am a qualified printer service engineer and use my G85 every day. The G85 works brilliantly as a copier with 3 levels of quality available on the keyboard: fast, normal and best, I use fast for the internal copying, normal, for copies that I need to send out and best for copying photographs which it does with incredible colour accuracy, the copies are good enough to be framed. It also has a flat-bed for 3d objects etc.
The fax side of the machine works equally as well, the document feeder is simple to use and the desktop software works as a great paper saving device in my word processing and accounts packages allowing you to send direct from the desktop. It also has a fax log for send, receive and errors, it also will resend if the other fax is busy, ten speed dials and a huge phone book for mailing to all my customers.
The scanner will, at the touch of ONE button scan a photograph directly into any picture editing software at high res, into Outlook as a file for sending as an email and also comes with OCR software which I have only used a couple of times.
The ink usage is good,using a large black and a tri-colour cartridge which is very easy to change and the machine will auto allign. Changing the print settings to fast quality and adjusting quite simply to a low ink usage extends the life of the cartridges without losing definition.
The G85 is nice and fast to first print and has never jammed. It comes with a good warranty from HP and I love it!
