I bought this printer 2 days ago. I connected it at home to an ADSL modem/ router with ethernet cable. I installed with the CD to both my 2 desktop computers (with the easy default automatic installation, not for advanced users, it took about 10 minutes). Both see the machine normally. I can print from both PCs double-sided pages, scan easily (using the VuePrint 8.0 cheap old program from www.hamrick.com, I use it from 2001) using the WIA interface (not HP's utility), I used it as a photocopier, I didn't tried the FAX. Everything seems OK. George, Athens, Greece.

Don't buy this problem machine. It's all trouble and there isn't any help from HP. This is the second time I bought a HP all in one and the second time it is not working like in should. I never buy one again. Wireless??? have to reinstal the printer everytime I want to use it. Scanner?? None of my 8 computers can find the scanner.

This machine has been a real let down. I brought it for it facility to be able to scan to network folders. When I got the machine a tried to set it up I could not find anywhere to configure this so I asked for help on the hp forums only to be told that it does not have this feature and has been misdescribed. I then spent 3 weeks going backwards and forwardeds between hp and the shop that I brought it from with the retailer refusing to give me a refund unless I could get hp send me a specific form admitting fault for the product being misdescribed. I am now trying to claim my money back from the retailer however it seems that I will not suceed with this and I and ... Read the complete review

i would generally agree with the first reviewer - this J6410 is a very poor machine, largely because the drivers and software appear to be extremely unreliable. the machine almost never does the required action twice. the wifi function is particularly unreliable. i managed to get wifi scanning to work, but again, it was unreliable. over the last thirty years i have owned many hp machines. in the last twenty years almost all of them suffer from poor software - unreliability being the constant problem. i am about to phone the place i bought the j6410 from (pcw) and more than likely waste half a day taking it back and trying to find something else. hp ... Do not buy this product. Why not? It does not function correctly with Windows Vista. It may be that you are thinking, "well that's probably a problem with Windows Vista". Yes and no. HP simply won't update the drivers to function correctly with Vista. Secondly, its advertised as wireless. It only prints wirelessly. If you want to scan and fax wirelessly, then you need a wireless print server costing over £200. This is not mentioned anywhere in the description and is very misleading. What else? The drivers are poor. HP are notorious for having bad drivers but this is a joke. They simply do not function correctly. For example, a scan of a page of ... Read the complete review
