Advantages: It prints, sometimes...
Disadvantages: No wireless scanning, drivers a nightmare in Vista, printing only works sometimes
Do not buy this product.
Why not? It does not function correctly with Windows Vista. It may be that you are thinking, "well that's probably a problem with Windows Vista". Yes and no. HP simply won't update the drivers to function correctly with Vista.
Secondly, its advertised as wireless. It only prints wirelessly. If you want to scan and fax wirelessly, then you need a wireless print server costing over £200. This is not mentioned anywhere in the description and is very misleading.
What else? The drivers are poor. HP are notorious for having bad drivers but this is a joke. They simply do not function correctly. For example, a scan of a page of text at the lowest resolution results in a PDF file of 20mb!! Not something you can send via email.
There are much better printers with the same "advertised" functionality out there - such as Lexmark - that I would go for before even considering this printer. I have sent mine back to the retailer and am trying to get a refund.

- 30/03/09 This review is simply wrong. Do not be taken in. The J6410 DOES scan and fax wirelessly, and in my experience the drivers work just fine with Vista. I followed the instructions and turned of my Firewall and AntiVirus software during install, and it all just worked without a hitch. The printer is well built, quiet and brilliant value for money. |

- 17/12/08 Useful to know. I too have had problems with HP, mostly with the software though. The printer itself (C7280) has actually been quite good. |
