Advantages: Does lots of jobs
Disadvantages: Slow
If Like my company you are looking for a device with an all-in-one capability that can perform your printing, faxing, scanning, and copying needs while still sitting at your desk, you could do a lot worse than try the Hewlett-Packard OfficeJet T65 multifunction device. Features. --------- The OfficeJet T65 is not much different to most other multifunction devices. It of course comes with items such as a 100-sheet paper capacity and one-touch dialing. Handy for when you have repeated dialing on a popular fax number. It also has many features unique to this machine, such as its one-step scan button and copy collation. No need to scan, prepare and print the document. The unit can print up to 99 copies from a desired source as long as you have stocked it up with enough paper in its ample fresh paper rack and it can also reduce and enlarge images from 25% up to 400%. Output. ------- Whether you need your document/fax/enlargement in in color or black and white, it is capable of producing excellent color clarity, brillant resolution and clear, bright text. Scanning. --------- The scanning is performed internally and comes with a sheet-fed scanner for ease of document loading. It also comes with its own character recognition software. A true masterpiece for transferring documents to electronic format. Now you won't have to retype The document. You are not limited to standard A4 scanning either . It can support scanning of many different sizes of paper from envelopes and letters to professional faxes and even high resolution photos. The T65 scans monochrome items at a resolution of 300 x 600 dots per inch (dpi). This is 4 times less than standard modern home scanners but with the addition of some additonal software, it will scan at the higher rate of 1,200dpi. Faxing. ------- No huge documents here please. you are limited to 20 pages at a time in the document feed
er. After all, it is not a pure fax machine in the same way that it is not a dedicated scanner. Most office requirements will not need to send more than 20 pages anyway. However you can store up to 75 pages at a time in memory, and you can use it in conjunction with an answering machine. It is very slow at reading the pages to memory though and tends to stop for "breathers" which can be disconcerting. Functions. ---------- A nice easy to read display panel with controls for altering the resolution, color, Print quality, and dial options. There are additional programmable buttons for your other requirements. All of the buttons are easy to use and explained thoroughly in the supplied manual. Build quality/Size. ------------------- It is about the size of a home Colour Printer. In fact it is often mistaken for that. It is very rigid in construction. It's hard plastic exterior fits in well with other office devices. It is rather heavy though. I expect this is due to the extra components required to perform the multi tasks that it can. Performance. ------------ As I have said, it is not a pure anything! It does a good job of printing, A good job of faxing, a reasonable job of scanning and a reasonable job of copying. It just does not do any of these brilliantly or quickly. When you consider it is replacing 4 devices in your office though. it is allowed a few graces. Overall I think this is an ideal solution for the small business.
