I was looking to buy a printer, photo copier and a fax machine for my new home office. I had initially planned to buy one printer and another copier/fax combo. It was around 6-8 months ago and I was posted in Germany at that time. It was bit difficult to choose the best printer from the market where there were several printers in the market.
At first it was bit difficult to choose the printer and after doing a extensive research on the web. I decided to step into the several show rooms and check it out for myself. Like any other buyer I had my main doubts which were like the usage of cartridge, cost of cartridge, longetivity of the cartridge and I knew that if I choose a wrong printer, I would in trouble. I was also worried about overshooting my budget.
The reason why I chose HP?
HP is the worlds best known brand for printers. I have been using HP printer for a very long time. It was a safe bet to go with HP. There were many well known brands in the market but none were well known for printer technology.
Cost: Major factor
Cost of the printer was another major factor. It was not only the first time cost of the printer but also the cost of cartridge (single most costly affair after buying the printer) and also the longetivity of the cartridge. Another minor factor was the hidden cost like the cables/accessories etc.
Well, the speed of the printer was not a major factor for me. But this printer has 21 pages per minute speed, which was good enough for me.
There are two cartridge in this printer one is black and the other one is coloured, It costs around 20 and 30 Pounds respectively( well ....all cartridges of inkjet printer cost more or less same). It has all the cables except the USB cable which had to be bought extra. It also has a CD which contains two types of installation i.e comprehensive (200 MB HD space) and concise installation (50MB HD Space). The comprehensive installation has all the features like scanning the document or faxing the scanned documents along with all drivers. The concise one has only the drivers.
The specs data is
21 ppm; 1200 x 4800 dpi maximum printer resolution; USB and parallel connections; flatbed scanner; 1200 ppi scanner optical resolution; copier and fax.
All in one printer like printer, fax, scanner and Copier. Fast performance for photos and relatively fast performance for business applications. Direct printing from memory cards is possible. Where one can insert the SD memory card of the digital camera in the printer and can print it directly without the need of a computer. It is very easy to use.
No automatic document feeder. No LCD to preview prints. Although it has a LCD but one cannot preview the documents in that. One has to preview the documents on the PC. That should be fine, as most of us preview the photos first and then print them
I had a one problem and it was that when i came to back London along with my printer and started using it after couple of months, it did give me some problems with the cartridge printing.
One has to use a cleaner cartridge before.
The HP PSC 2410 Photosmart All-in-One emphasizes photo printing, with fast print times for photos and direct printing from memory cards. It's also reasonably fast for business applications, and despite the lack of an automatic document feeder, it's a capable AIO complete with a built-in fax modem.
But you cannot find such a printer for less than 200 pounds.
You despise labels. And you're not alone. With the ability to print, scan, color copy and fax, the HP PSC 2410 Photosmart all-in-one defies the label of "printer." In fact, even if printing were its only function, its flexibility to print true-to-life photo quality 4x6, 5x7, 8x10, wallet-size, posters, t-shirts and coffee mugs would stretch the definition. Additional features like borderless printing, HP Instant Share, built-in memory card slots compatible with a variety of memory cards, video action print and the ability to print photo proof sheets make it just about the smartest unclassifiable tool in your home. Oh yeah, it can also print labels.
