This model features a 12 page-per-minute print engine, 1200dpi resolution, duplex printing module, and 600 dpi color scanner. It also includes built-in parallel port and USB interfaces and support a wide range of operating systems including Windows 95/98/2000/ME/NT4.0/XP.

The SCX-5312F model comes with built-in duplex copy/print/fax functionality, which prints or copies on both sides of paper, thus saving paper and filing space for an efficient work environment. Samsung's unique toner-save technology is incorporated in the SCX-5312F. The one-touch toner-save button reduces toner consumption by up to 30%, saving consumers and businesses money through fewer replacement cartridges. Ideal for generating draft documents, the toner save actually extends the life of the printer's 6, 000-page toner cartridge to about 7, 800 pages when activated.

In addition to the functionality the SCX-5312F also includes high performance fax capability. It can transmit a document in less than three seconds with its 33.6Kbps modem, and also includes 4MB of fax memory, allowing for storage of approximately 320 pages. With 600 x 600 dots per inch (dpi) color scanning, users can even send color faxes.
