Advantages: Easy to set up and easy to use
Disadvantages: faxes can look smudged
This is a light and compact fax machine, which I currently use in the office it sits nicely on the corner of the desk hardly taking any space at all!
The best thing I find about this fax machine is it's ease of use, even setting it up was simple!
I am not the best at techilogical things and so was a bit dubious when my boss bought this into the office left it in it's box and said I'm popping out could you set this up.
So carefully I opened the box pulling out the fax machine and placing it on the desk! (Great I thought so far nothings broke!). Then I pulled out all the other bits and bobs as well as the instrcutions.
The instructions were brilliant as they were step by step used a few simple sentances to explain what to do as well as simple and large pictures to show you what to do.
Everthing basically clipped into a socket and into the wall. The a whirring sound came on, which startled me a bit as I thought I may have broke it but no luckily for me it was supposed to do that! Then on the screen in the centre, which I have to say is quite small and so if you have difficulty in reading small lettering this may not be the product for you, tells you to insert the date, and then to insert the ink cartridge.
This again is fairly simple with you just lifting up the top of the fax machine and clipping in the ink cartridge it and shutting down the lid. It will then ask you to put in some paper and will print out 8 or so lines and ask you to select the number (by pressing the keys) of the line which is straightest! Once you do this it's all then set up and ready to go!
What I've also noticed is that as the fax machine is plugged into a phone liine, and it has a phone handset you can also use it as a phone and dial out and recieve calls which is good if someone is looking for one that does both functions!
I have to say that the quality of the faxes that it prints are not great and can sometimes look slightly smudged, but this is a fairly cheap and lightweight fax machine, (as I have reviewed before if you want good faxes the HP Photosmart 2610 maybe a better choice!)and if it's not to important for what ever is faxed through to be crystal clear then it maybe the one for you.
Summary: Ideal if your looking for something small

- 30/01/09 Some good stuff here but I think we need to hear much more about using this fax machine and less about setting it up. For instance, what kind of paper does it use, how much does it hold in the bin, are there any special shortcuts for dialing or saving fax numbers, and as I see it has a phone handset, have you tried using it to make or receive a call as well. |
