If only I had known about Quicken 6 years ago I never would have got into such a mess. Still thank God I know about it now! Without a doubt this has to be one of the most useful programs I have ever used. Setup is easy and then you can finally see where all your money goes.It amazed me at first how much you actually spend on the little thing in life and once you know you can put it to more effective use.It certainly help me and all my friends have found it useful. You probably will too!

I have been using Quicken to manage my bank accounts for about five years now. Until I started using this system, I always had overdraft fees on my bank account. However, now at the click of my mouse I can see exactly what money is going out of my account and what is coming in. The financial calendar allows you to see when direct debits or regular bills are due to be paid, so that I can tell exactly how much is going to be in my account at any one time. Each month when my bank statement comes, there is a facility which allows you to check that each transaction is accounted for. I even have a separate account for my credit card, so that I can see how much my balance is, which again helps you when you are budgeting. I have found Quicken so successful that I am now managing my husbands business accounts with it also

I have to admit, I'm an accounts fanatic. If I could, I would keep everybody's accounts for them just for the fun of organising and using the money management software! I have used both Quicken and Microsoft Money and I prefer Quicken. It is very easy to use and soon you will be tracking those bank accounts, savings and credit cards and budgeting as if it is second nature. When you first start it up after installation, Quicken takes you through the basics of setting up your accounts and it is so self explanitory that you will rarely need to consult the help files! If you are looking for an efficient and easy way to manage your home accounts, pick Quicken.

This is a software programme for home accounting. It can also be used for small business accounts as it has VAT trackers and programmes that will work out your allowable and owed tax. I use it for my personal accounts and since I started using it at college, it has saved me a fortune in bank charges. It is like having an interactive bank statement that you have access to 24 hours a day. Now that we have internet banking anyway, I suspect it will become less popular for personal accounts, but will still be used for small businesses. The main benefit for personal users is that it can be used to forecast future spending. I find this a brilliant tool as in July I can set aside £200 for spending on Christmas presents and can budget for the rest of the year accordingly. Come December, I have £250 allowable to spend. For someone as disorganised as I am, this really is a great idea. Really user friendly and good value at £29.99 for the basic package (all you need for personal accounts).
