Between me and my family we have a few properties on the go and renovations being done so we have the luxury of having 6 fireplaces between us. I have had the pleasure of using them all over the last few months/years.
My mum bought this one for the family home and its in the open plan kitchen/dining area. It looks unbelievable and really jumps out at you when you walk into the room as its so crystal clear and contemporary looking. It really suits the room and all the furniture she has. It wouldn't however look good in my mums snug or her main lounge where she has more traditional fireplaces (yes she has 3 in her house!).
The Burley Witham 516-R Wall is a wall mounted electric fire and there is an option to actually change the settings of the fire if your interior changes or you just feel like a change. I think this is a real bonus and almost something that goes against the seller as due to there being available options for the fireplace you've already bought you don't need to go and buy another one spending quite a bit of money. So you to only get a change when you feel like it you also get to save money. Its a real perk and a respectable aspect of the company.
The overall look of the fire is stunning and really high end. It comes with Pebbles, Shells and White Chips which give it that contemporary look and feel.
You can also get it in black or stainless steel trim finishes which is the one my mum has. I think I personally prefer the black one but in my mums kitchen it suits much better having the stainless steel trim. The fact it's stainless steel is better than if it was overly shiny silver, and that would stand out too much.
It is controlled with a remote which means you can switch it on no matter where you are in the room. It powers up very quickly and the heat is quite instant which is nice.
Some of the more technical points are:
Its thermostatically controlled. The heat output of either 1kW - 2kW with light effect only setting. It is glass fronted. You don't need a chimney.
A: Width 940mm, B: Height 600mm, C: Depth 165mm
I do worry that it is potentially too hot. I was quite surprised with a). how far out the heat projects and b). how intense the heat is. You would definitely not leave a child unattended if it was on and they certainly wouldn't be able to go up close or touch it as they would surely get burnt (I obviously haven't tested that theory it just seems obvious due to the extreme heat).
Over all is is a brilliant piece and I highly recommend it if you're looking for a stylish contemporary feel at an affordable price.
The Burley Witham 516-R is would complement even the most minimal of homes. Its simple black frame makes it a modern statement piece. A wall-mounted picture frame fire with a wide black surround that can be exchanged for stainless steel panels. It comes with 3 different fuel effects: pebbles, shells and white stones. The Witham 516-R has a virtual flame effect and a heat output of 1 - 2kW. It also has a light-effect only setting, so you can have the cosiness of a fire without the extra heat it creates. It is designed specifically for quiet operation with a convected heat output, rather than fan heater. While the integeral ioniser, removes dust, cleaning and freshening the air in the room
