I have a few different types of fires in my house, including an open fireplace and a wood stove, as well as a dimplex electric fire, however out of them all this is probably my favourite in terms of looks.
My house is quite minimalistic and this smeg fire really fits in beautifully. It is really slim and sleek and looks really modern just hanging on the wall with its stainless steel and black frame.
I think I paid around the £600 mark but they seem to vary in price hugely between retailers, ive seen them on sale for up to about £900 so its definitely worth it to shop around. I purchased it from an online site and it didn't come very well packaged so I was a little worried it would be damaged, it turned out to be fine but if you are purchasing online then definitely check it all over before accepting delivery of it, even if you feel rushed by the driver, better to check it over and refuse if damaged rather than have the hassle of trying to return it at a later date.
This has got to be the easiest fire that we have installed in our house. You don't need a recess or chimney / flue for it, neither do you need a hearth. It just simply hangs on the wall, on any flat surface. It heats our living room nicely, which isn't particularly small but neither is it overly large. I would say my wood stove gives out more heat from it, however this is adequate, and really does look beautiful. A real centrepiece.
