Asda Smartprice Washproof Plasters
by thriftygiftyisme
Asda Smart price Wash proof Plasters
I was down to last few plasters, and was having one of those run around days and saw these plasters, they were 40p for a box of 40 plasters, so I thought I would give them a try, I did not take much notice of the box in terms of sizes just that were 40 plasters
=Asda Smart price ... Range=
These are part of the Asda own brand value range, called Smart price, the colour for this range is green and white.
=Sizes=
This is the first disappointment, that all the plasters were the same size, they were what I call middle range plaster, about 2xm x 7cm, each plaster was individually wrapped.
=To Use=
Once you have taken the plaster out of the sterile cover, I was a bit disappointed as the pull off pieces were a thin paper, (value comes to mind), so you put the cushion part over the wound then pull at the paper. It took a good grip to get the paper off, as the first person to need a plaster was my daughter, so I didn't want to pull to hard and yank the plaster off.
=The Verdict=
Or should I say was it worth it, after a little bit of effort we got the plaster on (paper cut on her finger), but within about 30 minutes the ends of the plaster start to come away from the skin.
My daughter went to the bathroom, came back down in tears, thinking oh no what has happened, she was so worried as when she washed her hands the plaster had come off, I know she didn't scrub away with a nail brush, just a general "hello water, hello soap, goodbye as quick as possible!".
=Wash proof=
Ok, slight difference of opinion here, the plasters say there wash proof as for us, we soon discovered they were not..
=Check No 2=
Not that I disbelieved my daughter as I could see myself that there her plaster had not stuck properly, so I thought it could be a duff one, so I tried 4 plasters myself, on different parts of my arms, feet and leg, unfortunately the same happened again, the curling of the plaster and coming off in the water.
=Would I recommend=
Unfortunately no I could not recommend these plasters, I so appreciate they were from a value range, but I would still hope they would do the job.
Sorry not for me, - the 1 star represents the fact that they were individually sealed plasters,

Savlon Dry Antiseptic Spray
by Taz123456
Due to my fathers job that requires a lot of lifting and fixing of household items, getting minor cuts and scratches can be a common occurrence; therefore we always tend to have a Savlon Dry Antiseptic Spray stored in our first aid kit at home in case someone gets any cuts or minor scratches.
==PRICE==
I ... purchased our 50ml Savlon Dry Antiseptic Spray from our local chemist store for around £3.99, which is not too expensive. However I believe you should be able to get it cheaper from some supermarkets such as Asda for around £2.50. I do not mind paying a little extra occasionally when it comes to important health care products, as when it comes to antiseptic treatment I want the most reliable and effective treatment I can find and the Savlon brand is one that I have come to trust.
==PACKAGING==
The spray comes in a blue coloured enclosed aerosol can that clearly states the brand and the name of the product on the front of the packaging. The information provided by Savlon states that it contains povidone iodine and comes in powder form.
Savlon also state the use of the product:
'Savlon Dry Antiseptic is a fine antiseptic powder spray for no-touch first aid treatment. It forms a protective antiseptic layer that helps to prevent infection and aids natural healing in: First aid - minor cuts, grazes and burns. Sports - friction burns, blistered hands and feet. Home - gardening and DIY abrasions'
The can is nice and small and therefore can be easily stored in hand bags or into a small first aid box. The Spray can has a nozzle at the top which is pressed in order to release the antiseptic powder. The nozzle comes fully enclosed in a removable lid which prevents the nozzle from being activated when in a bag or other moving storage.
==INGREDIENTS==
Active Ingredient:
Povidone Iodine 1.14% w/w ,
Also contains:
Povidone,
N-Pentane,
Soya Lecithin,
Butane .
==SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS==
Keep out of the reach and sight of children. PRESSURISED CONTAINER: Protect from sunlight. DO NOT - expose to temperatures exceeding 50°C - Keep away from sources of ignition. Do not store above 25°C.
==HOW TO USE AND MY EXPERIENCE==
Its very simple to use the spray, all that you need to do is hold the can at a safe distance from the cut/scratch (15cm) and then press the nozzle to release the powder contents onto the affected area. Upon applying the appearance of the power spray is yellowish, but this will disappear once the powder is absorbed into the wounded area.
I liked the fact that the powder doesn't let off any chemical smells which is a great bonus. The Powder itself can be a little messy if you accidently apply too much on the affected area, but this is easily avoided if you press lightly on the nozzle so you have more control over the amount that is sprayed.
I found that the spray does sting a little when it is applied but that is expected with most antiseptic properties. I was happy with the results of the spray, as with just a few sprays on the affected area it does have a positive affect on the healing process, It speeds up the process of healing minor cuts a lot faster than just putting a bandage on it or a plaster over the affected area.
==CONCLUSION==
I would recommend this for all households, as it is a great little safety essential when it comes to speeding up the healing process of minor cuts and burns and can be used for all the family.

Grosvenor Hello Kitty Plasters
by thriftygiftyisme
Grosvenor Hello Kitty Plasters
I saw these in one of local pound shops, and knowing my daughter loves Hello Kitty, and does have a habit of grazes on her knees, or paper cuts, it feels like a military planned operation to get her to have a plaster. So when I saw these, I thought £1 nothing ventured, nothing gained and what can you ... get with a £1, (unless you are in a pound shop!).
=The Box=
The box is a white cardboard box with the Hello Kitty logos on the box, and it says that you get 20 plasters.
=The Plasters=
The plasters are all the same size about 250mm x 700mm, if you had a mixed box of plasters there similar size to the medium size, what I call finger cuts size plasters.
Each plaster is sealed in a plastic wrapper, and once you have opened the wrapped, there are 2 different Hello Kitty designs (10 of each) the Hello Kitty covers the whole plaster, and does look really good.
The plasters stick on easy, and are lasting, it is recommend that you change plasters daily, but that is general with all plasters.
They are easy to peel off.
=Waterproof=
It does say the plasters are water proof, but they also have the air holes in them to help the healing factor, so I really would there more splash proof.
=Would I recommend=
I would highly recommend these plasters, there not just for little kids, us big kids can use them as well, as Hello Kitty seems to be marketed for all age groups and they are excellent value for money, - there 5p a plaster. This is another holiday must for us.
=Other Brands=
It is also worth looking as they do other brands including Tatty Teddy.
