... Papaw Ointment in their handbag - whilst I can't vouch for the validity of that claim, it's probably not far from the truth. After all, most UK women have used Vaseline at some point and it's considered a beauty staple here. Whenever I mention Lucas' Papaw to anyone who's Australian, they know it immediately and instantly wax lyrical about how great it is! USES: Described as an 'unctuous balm', Lucas' Papaw Ointment claims to be a remedy for pretty much any skin condition know to man! You can use it on rashes, spots,...more

Lucas' Pawpaw Ointment: Fantastic for lots of skin complaints (543 words)
by - written on 19/06/09 (Very useful, 1327 readings)
Rating:

I was first given this ointment by an Australian friend who waxed lyrical about it's many properties and ability to cure any skin ailment and I have to admit that I was a little dubious-the front of the tube says 'fresh fermented fruit' and I did wonder if it would be another miraculous remedy that has a mere placebo effect. The tube says it is a ' local topical application for boils, burns, chafing, cuts, cracked skin, gravel, rash, splinters, open wounds, insect bites and nappy rash'. The website (www.lucaspapaw.com.au) adds that it is suitable for temporary relief of dermatitis, eczema and even haemorrhoids. It also claims a mild antiseptic effect so is ...  Read the complete review

Nature's Little Miracle (494 words)

My Australian sister-in-law brought me a tube of Lucas' Pawpaw Ointment the last time she visited the UK, and waxed lyrical about its amazing properties. I thanked her and put it in my first aid box, only half believing what she said. Then one day I needed an antiseptic, and decided to try the Pawpaw Ointment. I was so impressed by the results that it's now the first thing I reach for when I need any sort of ointment or cream. On the tube it says: "A local topical application for boils, burns, chafing, cuts, cracked skin, gravel rash, splinters, open wounds, insect bites and nappy rash." When you squeeze some of the ointment out of the ...  Read the complete review

Lucas' Pawpaw Ointment: Pick up some Papaw (566 words)
by - written on 07/03/12 (Very useful, 211 readings)

INGREDIENTS: Fermented Fresh PawPaw Fruit, Rhus Succedanea Wax, Glycerine, Petrolatum, Canola Oil, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Beeswax, Corn Starch, Potassium Sorbate (0.1 mg/g). PACKAGING: It comes either in a 25g tube or in a large 75g tub. Both items are very distinctive, with a pillar-box red colour and black writing. There's a small illustration on the front which lends it an old-fashioned feel. PRICE: £5.99 for the tube or £14.99 for a tub. BACKGROUND: Whilst not comparing this product to Elizabeth Arden's 8 Hour Cream, in terms of cult status, it's probably the Australian equivalent. It's got a similar sort of heritage, in that it's ...  Read the complete review

A funky tube with a multitude of uses (230 words)

My review is for the tube of Lucas' Papaw Ointment. I spotted this being advertised in a magazine a while back and was really interested to try it out as it seemed to be for so many different ailments, including cuts, burns, insect bites - and even nappy rash. As far as I know, it isn't stocked in any shops so you do have to shop around online for a tube, and it comes in at around the £4 mark. The tube is pillarbox red with black writing so it's very distinctive, and looks quite retro. Although the tube is quite small, a little goes a very long way so it will last a long time. The texture is similar to vaseline but not quite as smooth, but it goes on easily. I ...  Read the complete review
