Advantages: Sprays onto the wound without having to touch it!
Disadvantages: Not much of a smell to it!
I am always getting lots of little and big scratches up and down my arms and legs if I am wearing shorts from doing my gardening. As I've said before I've got a large job on my hands of clearing away a hell of a lot of brambles and rose bushes that really need to be cut right back. So as my arms have started to feel quite sore, I looked into the cupboard and remembered that I had bought this for my son to take away with him when he went away for a week recently ( I know mummy interfering and being over protective again!).
Now this Savlon spray is very handy indeed as it gets right onto the wound that needs tending to, this is a Antiseptic Wound Wash and not to be confused with the ointment that Savlon also do. What's good about this is that it cleanses and kills bacteria. So if you have a small child ( are BIG one come to that!!) and the have cut them selves or fallen over and grazed their knee, sometimes it gets a bit dirty and they don't like you to touch it well this washes the wound without you having to actually touch it. So you can rest assured that at least it has been cleaned to stop any infection getting in!
This spray is also handy to have around for insect bites and stings. This spray comes in a tube like container that is about 6 inches long which is clear in colour with the plastic tube being a shade of blue with a pink clear plastic lid. On removing the lid you will find a white spray action pump. On giving this pump a couple of presses
it releases a bubbly wet liquid, that has a slight smell of antiseptic with nothing over powering about it at all.
I did expect this to have a much stronger smell than it actually has got, so I was quite surprised that it was so weak. I suppose that this is only a wash even though it does do all the things that you would expect from an antiseptic.
It dries very quickly and just leaves a slight shine on the area that you have sprayed, I haven't found it to sting so that should suit little ones. Obvously if there was a lot of dirt on the wound then you would have to get a clean cloth to try and remove any excess dirt. It does say not to mix with soap as it will not work as well.
I got my Savlon Antiseptic Wound Wash from my 99p shop which I think is a great price as I believe that it usually retails for about £2.00, but it does only have a best before until the end of this year so it is best to check this before you buy. I hope that is not why mine hasn't much of a smell???
Anyway I will give it a 4 star as it is handy to have in the cupboard and to spray on any cuts or scratches. I do wish that it did smell a bit stronger as you would then feel that it was actually working ( all in the mind I know!!)
Summary: Worth having one about as it does clean a lot of things like, cuts, grazes, stings and insect bites
