These normally sell for around £8, but personally I think that's a lot to pay for a fish tank ornament, so I got mine second hand off eBay for £3 including postage and packaging. The ornament is basically a hollow log shaped tube designed to look like a tree trunk and it's around 14cm long, 7cm wide and 10cm high and is open at both ends so the fish can swim straight through if they want to. My family has kept tropical fish as pets for years as years ago, we thought it was a nice way to introduce the children to the concept of pets and the responsibility of looking after an animal, whilst not making it too difficult. They are also really interesting and relaxing animals to watch! We have quite a big tank set into the wall, and so we have an array of toys, hidey holes and ornaments for the tank which keep the fish entertained, give them somewhere to hide away from other fish and people if they get scared and also make the tank look nice in the process. For as long as I can remember we always had a tropical fish tank at home. I recently spotted the Tree Log Hide, from Arcadia Classica on www.seapets.co.uk. for aquariums and knew my dad would love it. It cost £8.39 and was worth every penny. The Tree Log Hide is like a hollowed out log. Its very realistic really with the colouring and the bark. It even is marked like old wood on the inside. There a small hole in the side that looks like a piece of bark has broken away. Its made of resin and is heavy enough to sit nicely on the gravel in the bottom of the tank without floating about. Our Arcadia Classica Tree Log Hide was bought to go with our funky red fish tank gravel along with a set of little barrels and some plants, to ring the changes in our medium sized fish tank. As it wasn't listed here it was suggested as a product and has arrived today, so I can now share my thoughts on it. For anyone with a fish tank the idea of having some areas where your fish can hide and explore means picking something that can live up to the task. We have found that that you need to look around at the many tank additions you can buy and try to choose wisely.
