When my son was christened last October I planned to have a clear glass vase of white flowers on the table beside his cake. I had also planned on putting little blue crystals in the water to tie the flowers in with the whole colour scheme, however when it came to doing the room the day before I ran out of blue crystals and it was too late to get anymore. It was actually my mum who suggested these Aquarium decorations, my parents have a tropical tank at home and have used these in the past. We were able to pop to our local Pets At home just a couple of minuets drive from us on the Sunday morning and buy a couple of packs.

Star Shape Glass Jewels are sold in a clear plastic pack allowing you to see the glass jewels inside, the front of the pack shows the Pets At Home logo and informs the customer that these glass jewels are suitable for all coldwater and tropical fish tanks. Apart from a small underwater scene along the bottom of the pack there is no other information at all.

Each pack contains approximately 20 jewels and costs £3.00. The glass jewels are made from clear blue glass and as the name suggests are star shaped, each five point glass star measure approximately 2.5cm's. All the edges are rounded and smooth, there's no sharp edges so if you are using them in a fish tank there's nothing for fish to catch their delicate fins on.

I personally used these little glass stars to put in the bottom of a clear glass flower vase and they looked really pretty, the water brings out the colour of the glass giving it a lovely sparkle. The stars are quite heavy so there's no problem with them floating in the water. They gave the vases of white flowers quite a glamorous look, I was really pleased with the effect.

As I mentioned I bought my glass jewels in a blue colour, they are also available in clear too, and although they are sold for aquariums they are in my opinion also ideal for flower displays or just put in a clear glass dish or bowl and used as a table decoration, if you have an aquarium or are looking for a decorative product I certainly wouldn't hesitate to recommend these.
