Do not use algofin if you have goldfish, it is a fish killer. Quite honestly if your pond is green, so be it, at least your fish have somewhere to hide and find shade. Algofin is a biocide. If you want a clear pond you may as well tip bleach into it! It will have the same effect!
Tetra Pond Algofin treatment is a liquid based blanketweed treatment. God knows why they call it Algofin, and not Blanketweed killer. The best way to use this product is to dilute the correct amount of treatment into a bucket, or watering can, full of your pond water, and then pour the treatment around the perimeter of your pond. This way the treatment is guaranteed to access all parts of your pond. The treatment usually starts taking effect about 24 hours, and you can notice it working, by a seemingly jelly like substance forming in the water. This is normal, so do not panic, and will go in the next day or so. As with most of the blanketweed treatments, although it kills the blanketweed, the dead weed will simply fall to the bottom of the pond, so I would highly suggest getting your pond vacuum out, and getting up all the rotting waste. This treatment worked well enough in my pond, but I have since found powder based treatments more effective and longer lasting.
