Now I have had tropical fish for around 6 years and tried many different fish foods. It's funny as how will you know how good the food is when the fish cannot actually tell you. I've had this fish food several time and to be hints only time I have bought it is when I have run out of my normal fish food and cannot get to the local fish shop or they are closed - Mondays
I buy th food from the fish shop which is actually cheaper then this and the fish thrive, the colours come out much stronger, the fish swim around the tank and as sad as it is to say the fish seem very happy.
When I have used this fish food, the fish try it and not eat the food as quick as other brands, it sinks to the bottom of tank quickly and you will need to do a water change more often and clean out the filter system as it seems to block up much easier.
Take advice for your local fish shop and even if you don't buy th food from them take their advice on how to feed tropical fish.
When I bought our first Goldfish (Fishy Windu, named by my son!), I was advised by the guy in the shop (Fishy Business) to use this brand of food as it is by far the best. I thought this was just because it cost £7 for an average sized tub, but I bought it anyway.
Our collection of goldfish grew (Mandy, Fin, Leaf and Glenda! Dont ask!) I still continued to buy Aquarian because although in Sainsburys it was a little cheaper £6.49, it really did seem to be enjoyed by all the goldfish and in fact our cat! I didn't crumble the flakes into the water, just dropped them on top and before long there was a mad rush by all fish involved. There was never any waste flakes, and it didn't make the water didn't go cloudy. The food itself comes in a blue tub with a silver lid that keeps the flakes fresh. Once opened the lid of the pot keeps them relatively fresh, although if the pot is open for too long they can go a bit soft and soggy, the fish still eat them though. Our fist cat Bailey loves the flakes too, when feeding our fish; I have to give him a little pile of flakes too. I will admit that the flakes themselves do smell very strong and it is quite unpleasant but once they are put away, the smell doesn't linger.
Highly recommend this food, and wouldn't even consider going to anther cheaper brand as I know this goes down well with fish and cats alike. Our fish are healthy, their colours are bright and their eyes clear, no difference has been noticed in the cat though.
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT,DO NOT BREAK UP THE FISH FOOD TO TINY PIN HEAD SIZES.IT WILL FIND ITS WAY INTO YOUR FILTERS AS MUCH AS IN TO YOUR FISH AQUARIAN FISH FOODS have been the leading brand in the UK for some years now. They supply tropical, coldwater and marine foods in varying size containers. Most,if not all fish will eat these foods but they are not the cheapest in the market place. The coldwater flakes come in three main sizes 13 gram,25 gram and 50gram.Larger sizes are available but not usualy bought by the normal hobbiest. You should feed enough to be consumed in two or three minutes.Do not have the food left lying around on the bottom of the the tank or bowl. This can cause the water to foul and lead to smelly water at the least or the death of your fish in extreme cases.
Aquarian fish food is made from natural ingredients specially formulated for clearer, cleaner water and healthier fish. It is a complete balanced diet and is eagerly eaten and brings out your fishes natural colours recommended by top aquarists. Used for cold water fish and is to be fed 2-3 times daily, by sprinkling a few flakes, per fish over the water until they stop feeding. I have been feeding my fish on Aquarian fish food for six years now and no problems have occurred, they seem to really enjoy the food and is available in most superstores as well as pet shops at a good price. Different size cartons are also available depending on the size of your aquarium.
Ok, so it smells bad, and if kept in the special bit above my tank they go a bit soggy, but all in all this is a good food for my tropical fish. Aquarian Flake Fish Food is made with natural ingredients and no artificial colours. It provides a balanced diet as each of the 5 different coloured flakes has a separate dietary benefit. · Yellow: high carbohydrates with egg protein · Orange: extra vitamins and natural anti-oxidants · Black: high protein · Brown: with kelp for herbivorous fish · Purple: with additional fish protein Lab tests have confirmed that Aquarian Flake Fish Food produces less ammonia than other flake fish food therefore creating a cleaner tank. The containers are sealed for maximum freshness. It has an easy-open lid and shape that allows you to easily reach the bottom of the can and use all of the product in the container. As you crumble it up to put into the tank, it spreads over a large area, instead of just in one clump. After a while, it starts to fall down if you put too much in, but this allows non-top feeders to eat aswell. I own this food as it came free with a starter pack, and I would certainly buy it again! The size of the container is fairly small though it is available in a range of product sizes, though it has lasted for ages, as only a minute bit needs to be given at a time.
We have a mixed tropical aquarium and so feed our fish Aquarian tropical fish flakes. They are made up of a well balanced formula for healthy fish, clearer and cleaner water, is eagerly devoured by even the smaller fish and enhances fishy colours. Ingredients are made up of fishes, shells, molluscs, vegetation and algaes to say just a few. They come in an airtight tub in 4 different sizes which are blue in colour and vary in price from shop to shop. The fish adore these flakes but for the babies I suggest that you crush them into a powder or buy fish pellets and crush these instead.
