I have a little tropical aquarium set-up in my living room, which sady now only contains my prized Siamese fighting fish, and one bandit corydora. I have a good opinion of the King British range and they produce a wide variety of fish foods which can be found in most good pet stores. Recently I have been using this Natural Tropical Fish Flake Food which costs around £3-£4 (depending on supplier) for a 28g tub of food. It is also available in 12g, 55g, and 200g sized tubs.
Product description: "A complete and balanced diet, for all tropical fish, that is free from artificial colours, flavours and preservatives, developed to meet their specific nutritional requirements."
It's important to consider the type of fish you are keeping when you are buying their food. There are separate food types for cold water and tropical fish. This is a complete food that is suitable for all tropical fish. The flakes come in a plastic tub that has a simple pull off lid. There is a foil seal over the top of the food to keep it fresh but obviously you have to remove this before you can get the food out. I usually pick up a small amount of the flakes between my finger and thumb and then scatter this into the top of the fish tank, as this is easier to control than tipping the food in directly from the tub. It is impprtant to ensure that fish are given the right amount of food and avoid over-feeding.
The flakes themselves are small and lightweight, and are a mix of mainly green and yellow shades. They seem to float on the surface of the water for a while and then sink down slowly through the water which allows the fish a good amount of time to swim after it and feed. This also helps because as they don't sink straight to the bottom the fish have a better chance of catching it and it doesn't just create a mess amongst the gravel at the base of the tank.
The flakes are always quickly devoured by my fish so I guess they taste good! I have a feeding routine that the fish seem to have grown to recognise and they are always quick to swim up and eat. The flakes are small enough to be nibbled at by little fish as well as easily consumed by bigger ones. Fish flakes often have a strong smell, and these do have a distinctive scent but it's not too bad as this has to be expected from the sort of product that it is.
The King British Natural Tropical Fish flakes are a high quality product that keeps my fish happy and healthy. They feature many new and improved benefits that really take the health of the fish into consideration, so I can be safe in the knowledge that all my fish are getting the right nutrients that they need. The food is made from high quality, natural ingredients and is high in protein with a low waste formula. It contains all the essential vitamins, minerals and trace elements as well as the real bonus of having an added "Immuno Health Booster". This is a natural seaweed extract that helps provide a stronger defence against infection and disease.
I think that King British Natural flakes are a great product, they are good value and even a small tub can last for many months with controlled feeding patterns. They seem to offer additional health benefits over and above other alternative fish food products that are currently on the market. I am very happy using these with my fish and would certainly recommend this product to other tropical fish owners.
King british tropical flake food is obviously a food for tropical fish.
This food contains immune system health boosters which are found naturally in marine algae, this helps to protect against infection and diseases and obviously if your fish were in the sea it would have a plentiful supply of this so it is a very good food to feed your fish on.
The only thing i dont like about this food is that it claims to be a complete food to provide a balance of everything your fish needs but i know that fish suffer from what is called swim bladder if not fed some form of live food such as blood worm or daphnia so i do think that it is wrong for this company to claim it caters for all your fishes needs when it so obviously doesnt and correct me if i am wrong but when you buy a complete food you dont expect to have to add things to it to cater for your animals neeeds.
A 55g tub of this costs £3.85 and a 200g tub costs £10.99.
All in all this food is great but if you are going to use this food please remember to use a live food as well and something else i noticed about this food is that it doesnt contain colour enhancers which stops your pritty coloured fish loosing there colours.
Complete diet for all species of tropical fish / promotes colour condition and vitality
