Advantages: cheap, no problems
Disadvantages: none
I bought a nintendo wii a few years ago, not really to sit and play games on but more as a way to get fit.
I bought 3-4 exercise games with it and the wii fit. One of the exercises using the game was to skip on the spot for a certain number of minutes as there was a countdown going on the screen, and then it moved to different exercises... I found it quite hard to imagine a skipping rope and mostly skipped this activitiy as it felt weird to skip without an actual rope in my hands.
While purchasing something else in Argos I came across this skipping rope for £1.99, I thought i'd purchase it as it would allow me to do all the exercises on the wii without 'skipping' the skipping one lol :P
Now as I bought this 2 years ago I can't remember how it came packaged etc.
But the rope itself worked fine for me.. for a quick, cheap buy I wasn't expecting much in terms of the product but the quality seems fine to me, the rope doesn't seem like it would fall apart or fray.
It is quite strong... the handles are made from soft foam which allows an easy grip on it and I could skip using the rope with my hands being comfortable on the handles with no problems.
I noticed the more expensive skipping ropes looked like they had better handles and grips as they had grooves on the handles, but the plain soft foam didn't cause me any problems in terms of grip and comfort.
Now I can't say I used the skipping rope for too long.. I used it daily for around a month or two and then on odd occasions... after some time I stopped really using the rope, not because there was anything wrong with it but more because I stopped exercising as much! lol
I would think the rope is long-lasting and would last a while before it needing to be replaced... for such a cheap buy I can't say there's anything wrong with it. I only used it indoors but it would be able to be used both indoors and outdoors with no problems. (If you are planning to skip indoors I would just make sure there isn't a light directly above you that you can hit the rope on lol)
A quick look on the Argos website tells me the price has increased in the last 2 years and it is now £2.99, which is still a decent price.
The website states it to be: "an ideal way to add an extra dimension to your fitness session. Great for giving you a cardiovascular workout as well as toning up muscle groups all over" - it also states it is a 270cm long skipping rope.
Thanks for reading :)

Summary: it allows you to skip!
