Advantages: Robust. Adjustable height. Price okay. Exercise leaflet.

Disadvantages: Takes up a lot of room.

I've had the Davina Aerobic Step for about two years from when I bought a whole load of low-tech fitness equipment for me and my daughter to loose weight and to get fit. I opted for the Davina Aerobic Step just because it was recommended to me by a friend and also the price seemed about right. I bought it from Argos but they are no longer available from there, but I have seen that they are currently available from Homebase for £19.99 - which seems like a decent price.

The step is predominately blue with some grey bits on it as well. It is the traditional step shape with a platform with a gap underneath the step so there is room to tuck your feet underneath before starting the routine. The step is quite large and does take up a lot of space, and so I tend to keep it in the garage when it's not in use. The dimensions of the step are 15cm x 67cm x 27cm and it's not collapsable in any way. It is made of high durable plastic and is very rigid. However, it is also really lightweight and so it's easy enough for me to move from place to place.

The step, at it's highest level, is quite high - and is actually too high for me. However, the height is adjustable and on the lower height it is fine for me. To make the step lower, it's just a matter of removing the grey plastic inserts that are in the legs and then the step will lower by about 5cm and it's more manageable for me. My daughter manages on the higher step level - and so it's nice being able to adjust it to suit both of us. The top is textured and so it's non-slip and so helps you to keep your balance.

There was a leaflet (which I've now lost!!) that came with the box with a number of exercises on it to get you started. However, there are loads of exercises that are on the internet and I just downloaded some and made my own program up.

I think this step is a good piece of equipment to purchase if you are wanting to start an exercise regime.

Summary: A good piece of equipment.
