Everlast Duo Exercise Wheel
Advantages: Inexpensive, easy to use
Disadvantages: Awkward to store
With every new year comes a new resolution..or in my case five..!! And what better way to start off a new year than with a fresh mind and action packed plan to become fit. It seemed the best option really. The lbs had snuck on over Christmas and desperately needed to be shifted. My 'get fit' resolution was by far my strongest. Being fair cutting down on shopping and drinking less alcohol were never going to last long. So it was decided! A fitness nut was about to be born!!
Seeing as I didn't have the funds to join a gym last January (it was post Christmas after all), I thought the next best thing was to make my own, on the cheap!! Being realistic, I do not have the room or the money to be splashing out on treadmills and cross-trainers and the like so I picked up a few small items including this everlast exercise wheel, a yoga mat, 2lb dumbells to get me started, a medicine ball and a skipping rope. That would kick me up a gear until I could join a gym. Next step was to update my i-pod and away we go.
**Everlast Duo Exercise Wheel**
Costing only 6.99 I considered it a steal. It promised to tone my upper body and give me biceps of steel. Sounds great??!! It didn't come assembled in the box but in 3 parts with an instruction sheet of how to assemble and use. It was quite awkward to assemble if I'm being honest. It looks simple enough but being a total DIY virgin, I found it slightly more difficult than expected. The two wheels just attach 'simply' enough onto the bar.
It is fairly sturdy and I didn't feel jittery using it like I would any other hard plastic tool as it felt safe and sturdy in my hands. It rolls easy on carpet, tiles and wooden floors and I have used it on all with ease. I would recommend carpet out of all three as you have more control and it won't slide too far ahead which would hurt your arms as this is what you are working out along with your core. At first I found it hard to use but this was down to my lack of fitness rather than the difficulty of the product. Now I find myself doing more reps by the week. The handles are comfortable at first but after a while they feel hard and uncomfortable in your hands. Aesthetically it is a great product, doesn't stand out and just looks simple and effective, which in a nutshell it is.
The only dislike I have with this product is that it is fairly awkward to store away unless you dis assemble it which becomes annoying to put back together every day. My yoga mat and dumb bells fit easily on a shelf but I find I'm just leaving this lying in a corner looking messy because there is nowhere to put it.
As a whole though it is worth the buy because it does help with your workout and build up your fitness. And that is essentially what it is for. For the price I bought this would buy me two sessions in the gym but I have had this now for nearly 10 months and it is still going strong. I don't get bored of it as if you increase your reps it will still achieve results.
Summary: Good product for becoming more fit
