Fitness Mad Studio Aerobic Step
Advantages: Easy to use, sturdy, gives a good workout, good grip to floor
Disadvantages: The original cost
Many years ago now I joined a step aerobics class, there was my friend and me and for some reason we really did enjoy it, however the instructor only ran the class for a small number of weeks and then that was the end of that. We took up running but of course, when the winter months came we stopped as it was slippy under food and dark and so I have brought some fitness equipment for the home as well as using the Wii! One of my latest purchases is a Fitness Mad Step Aerobic Step.
I started looking for the step in the Argos catalogue as I thought this was the cheapest bet but they were coming up quite expensive, they were all well known brands as well like Rebock or Nike so when I went to my local Sports direct store I found this Fitness Mad step at a reduced price of £40.00. Even this price was a little more than I had wanted to pay but at least its a little cheaper. It may be worth you looking around for the best price, even EBay for example.
The step comes well packaged and you need to assemble the legs yourself, this is no problem as the feet are adjustable anyway. I started with the legs on the lowest setting, which gives a height of 12cm from the ground, I then gradually built them up to the top level of 21cm, there are 4 settings altogether with the step but I tend to go for the final two.
The step itself is not what I would call anything special to look at; the top of the step is a pale blue colour whilst the rest of the step is black. There is no advertising on the step and it is just quite plain really. The step is made from a thick plastic, material and is quite sturdy. I guess it has to be with all the movement. It takes up to a weight of 32 stones.
I tend to use the step in our lounge with a DVD that I brought with some useful exercises, although there is a sheet that comes with this step that gives you some advice on what exercises and stretches to be doing with the step. You do need quite a bit of room with it as I also tend to start throwing my arms around as well! Our lounge has carpet down so the step sits nicely onto it and does not slide around, or leave marks on the floor where it has been. I can imagine the step would still have a firm grip on wooden flooring as the feet all have good grip rubber pads on.
The step is also a good grip for bare feet but I do normally have my trainers on when using it. The work put that you get from it is quite good. I try and use it for about 20 minutes at a time if not more ad you can really feel it on your legs and ankles. I am aware not to overdo it as well as there is quite a strain on your legs and ankles I think, especially if you have it on the highest leg setting!
In summary, I have been more than happy with this step. I think when I first paid for the step I was aware it was a little pricey so I have made sure to try and get full use out of it and I think I have. It is quite easily stored as it is flat so I just leave it upright in one of my build in wardrobes. The exercise is quite good when you get into it and I don't fiund it torepetative.
I give the step 4 out of 5.
Thank you for reading
Summary: A great step for working out with!
