Kettler Push Up Bars
Advantages: Good stability, rubber grips, metal framework, and free-standing structure.
Disadvantages: Not many different exercises can be undertaken - £15.00 may put people off.
This is a product which reminds be an awful lot of the 'body sculpture body gym' I also own and have reviewed - a product I really like and enjoy exercising with. The Kettler product we have here is almost a dumbed down, less adaptable version of the Sculpture. The Kettler is solely used for the bettering of press ups - an activity which builds up key muscle areas and is often an exercise incorporated into already compounded exercise routines.
This product ultimately solves one problem. Many people thinking of buying one these will say, 'hold on, what problem does this solve? Press ups can be completed without the aid of anything but a floor, and gravity!' - that's true, but anyone who has undertaken the difficult task of completing more than 20 or so press ups in one sitting will know it can strain the wrists quite severely. Complete several sets of reps can cause aching around the wrists, which made me worried about the damage I might be causing myself - something you don't want on your mind when you're trying to better your physique, not destroy it.
The 'Kettler Push Up Bars' solve the aching wrist issue. Your hands don't sit flat on the floor any longer, they grip around the two rubber coated bars which are separably supported on metal framework able to support well over triple the average body weight with ease. What's great about having your hands placed on two supported frames which aren't mounted to the floor is the fact that you can twist them to run the bars away from you or to the side - not only does this enable users to find their most comfortable position, but it allows the user to access different muscles within their work out.
As the two bars are raised from the ground by around 150mm, there is room for any hand to grip. Even gloved hands fit fine, though these are unnecessary with the rubber grips of the product in place. There are also rubber pieces fitted to the legs which sit parallel with the floor they sit, offering maximum stability. The rubber offers grip and increases friction on all floors. The product won't slip on hard floors, and it will stay firmer than ever on carpets and wooden fascias.
For £15.00 I think many people would be impressed with the result they receive when using these Push Up Bars on a regular basis. They are solid, reliable, durable bits of exercise equipment which ultimately perform one task, and solve one issue (the wrist strain-age). Overall I like it and would recommend it with a 5 star flying-colours rating !
