Kettler Push Up Bars
Advantages: Price, use, build
Disadvantages: No other uses
Here's my review of the Kettler Push Up Bars which I have owned for over three years now, meaning I can give a long term review!
**Price and Availability**
Kettler is a pretty well known brand to any keep fit fan, and their products can often be found on the high street, and in specialist work out / body building shops.
I bought my Push Up Bars in Sports World (formerly Sports Soccer) on the Headrow in Leeds and I paid £9.99 for a pair, which is an excellent price and saving against the RRP of £14.99. My advice would be to shop around and see if you can get a deal online.
The Kettler Push Up Bars look very smart in a shiny silver metal finish with black rubberised grip bands and floor grips. They're suitable for men & women.
**Why Push Up Bars?**
Of course, you can do push ups on your hands alone flat to the floor but this puts your wrists at a near 90 degree angle with the majority of your body weight held there. This over time can cause pain and pressure problems to the palms, too.
The aim of Push Up Bars is to spread the weight over the four 'feet' on the base of the bars, leaving the user to grip and push in a more natural keep fit manner much in the same way you hold physical weights or use multi gyms. For those who incorporate push ups into their daily routine you may find not only are your wrists less sore afterward that you have had a more even distribution of weight when pushing up (and down), giving you a better workout.
I can't fault the Kettler Push Up Bars for use. They're suitable to use anywhere which is great and they're so convenient for travelling, too. I've used mine on carpeted areas, in the garden on the lawn, on sand, and on laminate flooring. Each time I have had a good result. The rubber floor grips work well and there is no sliding around even on laminate which means you feel confident when working out.
I find that it always leaves me having a good workout especially on the upper back of my arms and my shoulders / upper torso. I haven't found any other uses for them really but for push ups they're great and if your arms are an area you're concentrating on you won't find a simpler, cheaper or more enjoyable exercise than a good old push up.
For the money I really do think they're good quality, look attractive and are versatile in terms of where you can use them.
Obviously if you are going for a multi gym then go for it, but as a stand alone product which is well made, affordable and great at what it does, then I'd say this is ideal. It'd make a great gift too, for example my nephew likes to work out but can't afford a gym membership at university and his room is miniscule. I got him a set of Kettler Push Up Bars and he can use them in his room and keep them under the bed, or take them out onto the lawn on nice days and work out with his mates.
If you're into keep fit but you have limited space, don't want to spend a fortune on something you might not get all that much use out of or if you just want to tone the arms, then I highly recommend the Kettler Push Up Bars and award them 4 stars out of 5 for a good product.
