~*~*Introduction*~*~

My Husband has been on a bit of a health kick for the past year or so and has been trying to build his muscles up at the gym, part of the muscle building process involves consuming extra protein to aid muscle recovery. For this reason we now have five drinks shakers for the purpose of making and drinking protein shakes. Two of the shakers are Lucozade Sport branded.

I purchased the Lucozade shakers from amazon.co.uk for a few pounds each; they now cost £3.49 plus £2.49 delivery.

~*~* What does it look like? *~*~

The shaker is made of frosted clear plastic and is massively branded with the Lucozade Sports log. The shaker is marked up one side from 50ml to 700ml. The shaker is larger than a pint glass and has two smooth sides to aid grip.

The blue lid is a screw top and shaped a bit like an ice cream swirl, with a pop off cap over the drinking spout that is attached to the lid by a large plastic strap. The drinking spout stands proud of the lid.

Inside the shaker is a plastic mesh panel with a pointy bit in the middle so you can lift the mesh panel out for cleaning and filling purposes.

~*~* How to use, and is it any good? *~*~

To make a protein shake a pour the required amount of skimmed milk into the shaker using the measurements on the side, I then add two scoops of protein powder. The mesh panel needs placing into the top of the shaker and then the lid is screwed down tightly and then I make sure the spout is closed. Then I shake the shaker, a lot. I find that when I use the shaker this way it is quite useless, the resulting shake still has powdery lumps in it and no amount of shaking will get rid of them, also this way of using the shaker means no extra's like banana can be added to the shake.

My preferred method is to use a blender to mix the shake and then pour the shake into the shaker. This works well, then the plastic mesh panel filters out any remaining lumps and a quick shake while drinking keeps the protein shake thoroughly blended together.

When drinking the spout delivers a good flow of fluid, although the plastic strap that attaches the cap over the spout does have a tendency to poke me and my husband in the head when we drink out of these. We hold the strap down against the side of the shaker to prevent this.

~*~*Conclusion *~*~

I find the protein shaker is not very good for making a protein drink but it is good for drinking the drink out of and transporting the drink around with you. The shaker can not be used for long term protein shake storage as a protein shake needs drinking within twenty minutes of making because the protein starts to deteriorate after this point. Also the lid is not air tight so the shaker needs keeping up right.

The shakers are also good for having cold drinks in during the summer as you can fit a massive amount of ice in with the fruit juice. The lid and sealable drinking spout mean no nasty wasps or flies can nose dive into your drink while down the garden.

For the price paid I find the shakers no better than the many cheaper alternatives. So I award it 4 stars as I feel it is over priced but still a good product.

Thank you for reading.
