Overall, a decent product. Strong and durable for outdoor sports or gym uses. The filer allows for all of the protein shake to be mixed well with very few lumps. This type of container can be used for other sports drinks and is stylish for the female user. Only issue is that at times it may leak and therefore the lid needs to be screwed on tight along with the cap needing to be pushed on securely. MaxiMuscle/Tone products are all usually of high quality. The bottle has grooves to allow for an easier grip during physical activity. The bottle also has units of measurement marks up the side to allow accurate and quicker making of protein shakes. Ideal and easy to use for preparing the drink and able to take to work to mix drink easily there too. Can be difficult to understand how to use the shaker correctly with out getting covered in protein shake, you need to make sure the grid is centred in the lid before attempting to screw the lid to the cup. This keeps the grid from dislodging when you put the lid on. If you aren't bothered about colour, you may wish to opt for the red men's one which can be found at a lower price, otherwise alternatives in Pink can be cheaper with competitors. Overall the product serves it's purpose and is a must have for active people and gym go-ers to make the shakes quickly and easily with no mess.
I recently started the gym and every time I went there were at least 10 people carrying these sorts of bottles round. They looked like they contained a milkshake of sorts so I assumed they were used for protein shakes. I am on a 'get fit' mission so I thought I'd have a look into getting one of these myself.
I went into my local Holland and Barrett as I wanted a bit of advice about the shakes prior to buying one. They talked me through all the different shake brands and there specific uses. In the end I went for the Maxitone Sculptress Shake, this one is specifically designed for women and contains an ideal formula to aid weight loss. This cost me £24.99 for a 700ml tub, along with the shake came this cup free of charge.
This deal is no longer on so I researched some current prices for the shaker itself. On Amazon this is currently £3.17, it is part of the Amazon add on program, so any orders over £10 will be delivered free. On the Holland and Barrett website this is retailing separately also for £3.17.This can be purchased directly from the 'maxishop' at www.maxishop.com, but is readily available in other sports outlets and retailers.
My shaker is exactly as pictured above. It has printed measurements down the side which are not visible in the picture, the shaker itself holds 500ml. I like the design as I find it a lot more girly than all the others on the market. Something you can't see in the picture is the meshing inside of the actual shaker. This simply ensures that all your protein shake mixture and water are mixed thoroughly together.
The shaker has a flip top lid, so is easily opened and closed. Sometimes I will just use this as a normal water bottle, the flip of the lid makes drinking easy whilst I am working out. The opening for the liquid is quite big so it's effortless to drink from without the need for constant sucking, like you would from a pull top bottle. The size of the bottle itself is very handy; it's not too heavy when full and not too large in size to carry. I have rather small hands so this is perfect for me.
Mixing my shakes is extremely simple. All I have to do is put the stated amount of powder and water into the shaker close the lid tightly, and then shake. It doesn't take long at all for it all to come together; it's not strenuous work at all just a few simple shakes.
I can't fault the look of the product nor its ability to shake the product as advertised. However I have found on several occasions that if I put this into my gym bag or it gets knocked this will leak. The entire shake does not leak out but there's enough liquid to create a spill or a mess in my bag. So every time I use this I do have to ensure that it is kept upright to stop this happening, which can be very annoying and inconvenient.
Overall I'm happy with the shaker; it does its job well. I like carrying it around, it's not awkward or heavy to hold. It's not just designed for shakes so I can use it as an average water or drinks bottle. I do like using it but the spilling can sometimes put me off, however most machines at my gym have drink holders so it's not too much of an issue. To conclude I do very much like this shaker but the spilling issue will lead me to knocking off 2 stars, as I feel this is something that should have been rectified before selling to the public.
When my partner started spending a lot of time in the gym I bought him one of these from Boots as they were only £3.74 (and are also the same price on Amazon). As he used it I started noticing that the combination of exercise and increased protein were giving him a lot of energy and making him look a lot healthier so I decided I might give it a go as well.
The shaker is basically a clear 500ml plastic container with the maxitone logo on the side and a pink flip-up lid. As long as you make sure the lid is properly secured the bottle doesn't leak at all which is what you would expect from a shaker. I always feel safe chucking it in my bag after checking the lid is tightly on. The design is nice and compact so fits easily in my sports bag, however it is a bit weighty when filled to the top and I wouldn't want to hold this while exercising. Alongside the length of the bottle are measurements in ml and fl oz so you can get the amount you want. These are nice and easy to see even when the bottle is empty. Over the top is a mesh circle which stops the mixture from becoming lumpy and gives the shake and a nice, smooth consistency.
In order to make the protein shake all you need to do is empty the protein powder (which needs to be bought separately) into the shaker, add water and then shake it all up. It really doesn't take long to do and is very simple - very convenient if you're in a rush. As the width of the bottle isn't to great it's easy to fit my hand around it to give a good, strong shake. The 500ml capacity is sufficient to hold a good quantity of liquid and is usually more than enough for me. Aside from protein shakes it can also be used to make other health drinks such as meal replacements like Slimfast, carbohydrate drinks or even weight gainers.
It is fairly easy to clean by either manually rinsing it in washing liquid or sticking it in the dishwasher. I tend to wash mine as soon as possible after using, especially when I've added ingredients such as milk to the shake to stop it from smelling.
Overall this is a nice simple product with no frills which does exactly what you need it to do. I'm really pleased with my little shaker and after a few weeks am already starting to feel the benefits of a healthier lifestyle.
Over the last year I have been exercising more along with my partner. He goes to the gym 5 days a week and we have a lot of fitness equipment at home. He started on a protein diet and bought a large tub of protein shake in which he got a free shaker cup. I decided to also start with a protein diet and bought a maxitone shaker online for £4.99 which was an average price for shakers.
They are really simple to use just add the protein or any other powder such as weight gainer etc and add milk or water. Put the lid back on and shake it's as simple as that. My shaker is much better than my partners and mixes so that there aren't any lumps of powder left like there is in his. Mine is smaller which I like as I don't need to drink as much which is what I like about this maxitone shaker.
It is really easy to clean and I also like that the shaker doesn't stain and keep colour. My protein shake is chocolate so it is brown which can sometimes stain plastic but it hasn't on my shaker so it still looks good as new. The lid locks tight which ensures no liquid comes out when you shake it.
Really simple but does the job it is needed for well!
I am a sports science student in my 3rd year, so these kind of products interest me. I have had 2 different types of shaker, one with a wire ball, which I found left horrendous lumps in the protein shake I use post-workout, and ones like these, with the mesh, which I find work much better to make a smooth, great-tasting shake. I think that the 500ml size, smaller and more compact-looking than the other shakers available on the market, and the pink colour of the lid are particularly great for females who want to be fashionable but functional at the gym. Females tend to have a perception that weights, protein shakes etc. are all manly concepts and I think the design is a great one to break down those perceptions and encourage their use.
The only negative I found with this product was the flip-lid - maybe I'm just heavy handed but it snapped on its second use, which really annoyed me as I paid almost £5 for it. However I still use it now and then when I go to the gym, it still works fine apart form the cover is no longer attached to the lid. The lid however is really secure, I use the shaker sometimes just for holding water for uni or work, I generally just throw it in my bag and off I go, but have never had it spill in my bag.
Overall a great looking shaker, not so sure about the quality since it broke at the attachment, but mostly fit for its purpose.
I spend a decent amount of time in the gym, in fact I'm just back from a work out, also my job keeps me very active and so either after a work out or a practice session I will often have a shake to help replenish my energy levels and help with muscle development and the recovery from the exertion and the maxitone shaker at under a fiver is a great container to mix up the shake and drink from as well. I see these a lot in the gym especially amongst the guys who are going for muscle mass however they are also popular with some of the people at work. What I like is that when not in use the lid forms a secure seal so there is no leakage into my bag when travelling home from the gym or work.
It is a clear plastic body with a red top and it holds up to 500ml of liquid which when full makes it heavy enough that you would not want to exercise while holding it, this is not the sort of bottle I would take on a run with me as it would not be comfortable to hold for any length of time. You can measure off exactly the amount of liquid to powder that you are mixing as the measurements are clearly labelled alongside the bottle and the measures are in both ml and ounces.
The shaker itself has a criss cross mesh disc pattern across the top of it and there is a lid that fits over the mouth nozzle to prevent any leakage. It is very secure when shaking the bottle to mix the contents and I have never had any problems with filling it or mixing my drinks in it. While in use it is also totally secure as long as you replace the lid securely. It is also very easy to clean after use. The drinking aperture is quite wide and delivers a steady flow of liquid so you do not want to tip it up too much otherwise too much comes out and can cause a mess.
This is a well made product, the plastic is nice and thick and it is pretty robust, certainly it does the job it is supposed to very well indeed and I would certainly recommend it.
Over the past year I've become more and more interested in health and fitness, and have developed a series of workouts and routines that I fit into my weekly schedule to keep my body in good shape and conditioned. I've always been tall and skinny and never really paid too much attention to my diet, but as I've done more research into the matter I've now started to incorporate supplements into my daily diet. The easiest way for me to do this is to use a protein powder supplement, and I have been trying various types to gauge the results I get. One essential item that I needed was a good mixer bottle, and after being a little unimpressed with my first purchase from the Lucozade brand, I moved on to this Maxitone Shaker which I purchased from www.amazon.co.uk for the RRP of £4.99. I've also seen this available in health food shops and other places where you can buy the protein powders from, such as Holland and Barrett's and even Asda's.
Product description: "A fast, convenient and easy way to mix all your Maxitone powders. Ensures you can easily drink your nutrition drinks throughout the day."
This particular shaker bottle is part of the Maxitone range of products, which is targeted at women and is a branch-off from the Maximuscle range which is primarily aimed at men. This shaker design particularly suited me as it is somewhat smaller than the ones designed for men, which means that I can easily reach my hand round the majority of the body of the bottle to get a good firm grip on it, which is essential to then shake it around vigorously to mix the drink up. I have struggled before with larger mens bottles as I found them more difficult to hold onto, and this Maxitone Shaker is a much better fit. Because of this slightly reduced size it means that it holds a lower volume than other alternatives and has a maximum recommended capacity of 500mls. You do not want to overfill the bottle if you're using it to mix a drink as this would cause problems with the powder not being able to mix properly, so it is well suited to the supplement drinks that I prepare, but I prefer to use a separate larger bottle to take with me to the gym for just drinking water.
Directions for use: "Just add protein, meal replacement, weight gainer, or carb drink into the shaker, add some water, shake and drink."
The mixer is pretty standard but it has all the necessary features that make it a functional and essential piece of equipment. The main body of the bottle has clear markers to show the volume in millilitres and fluid ounces, and these are positioned on opposite sides of the bottle to make the markings quick and easy to read. The lid is quite large and has a flip-back cap that covers the lip of the bottle, which again is quite large. As a nice girly touch to show that this is part of the Maxitone womens range, the lid is a nice bright shade of pink, which is unimportant but makes it look cuter. Inside, there is a circular mesh grill that sits on a little ledge that keeps it firmly in place, and this has a small point protruding from it so you can grab hold and pull it out when you need to clean the bottle up.
I am particularly attached to using this Maxitone Shaker bottle as it's comfortable for me to get to grips with and I can use it easily. The lid is easy to slot back into place and secures tightly. I've never had any issues with spilling or leaking, either when mixing a drink or when transporting it. The 500ml size is more than enough for me to mix up a protein drink and the grill works effectively to combine the powder with either water or milk. I sometimes add additional ingredients to the drink for the nutritional benefit, or just to alter the flavour to my liking, and the shaker is capable of mixing in other things such as spices, vitamin powders, and even raw eggs, ensuring everything is thoroughly combined. The mesh grill agitates the combined ingredients and makes light work of what would otherwise be a time-consuming chore. As an added bonus, the shaker helps to get a nice frothy effect when using with milk, and this creates a nice thick texture which is really tasty and enjoyable. I need to shake each drink for only 30 seconds or so to get good results, and the only other alternative that provides the same effect is to use a blender, which is a lot more messy and completely impractical when you want to mix up a quick drink on the go or at the gym.
The only minor negative point is that the separate sections of the mixer bottle can be a bit tricky to clean, but this is just the nature of this type of product, and it's highly advisable to try and wash the bottle straight away after use otherwise the supplement drink remains have a tendency to get very smelly very quickly, and can be quite nasty to clean up.
Overall, I am really happy with this Maxitone Shaker - it's perfectly suited to my needs and I can definitely recommend it to any woman who's looking for an easy way to include supplement powder drinks into their diet. If you're using protein powders or meal replacement diet powders then this is a really handy little piece of kit that is well worth purchasing.
