I bought two packs of these around four months ago as I thought that they'd be ideal to wear while walking the dogs and running. I bought mine from eBay and paid £9.00 for each pack so I got four 3lb weights for under £20.00 - bargain! They are available from quite a few different retailers including Amazon, Woolworths, Very and so on and a pack of two 3lb weights retails at around £10.00.
There's also a 5lb version available which are meant for your ankles but I find that the 3lb ones are heavy enough for me seeing as I wear mine on both ankles and both wrists. I usually wear them just on my ankles when I'm running as they make my arms feel tired after about ten minutes but with less strenuous exercise I don't struggle too much with them on both wrists and ankles although it did take a little time to get used to.
The weights are only available in one colour - baby pink and grey. I'm not really much of a girly girl but I quite like the colour and design however I would prefer a more toned down colour option as I feel silly if I am wearing them on my ankles over my leggings or with shorts so I have to layer them under joggers. Although they aren't overlly bulky they do bulk out running pants and leggings and they look silly so unless you don't mind walking/jogging around with them on display you will need to wear them with loose fitting trousers such as trackie bottoms or joggers.
If I am wearing them on my wrists I don't feel as self concious and they fit under the sleeves of my loose fitting hoodies without noticeably bulking them out. Putting the weights on is quick and easy. They're one size fits all and they have a velcro strap which adjusts to the size of your wrist/ankle. This closes securely without feeling too tight and it keeps the weights in place even when I am running or jogging so I don't feel like they're about to fall off or anything.
The material is padded and nice and soft. It doesn't irritate my skin but I can only wear the one on my right wrist over clothing as I have eczema and although it isn't painful I worry that the weight could rub a little without me realising and make it worse. The weights are easy to take off and my skin is always dry underneath as the material of the weights absorbs any sweat. After having mine for 4 months I must admit that they don't smell great but a bit of body spray sprayed all over them soon sorts this out!
I use these for a range of exercises including walking, running and stepping/twisting. It's kind of a shame that I can't use them when I'm swimming really. These do definitely make the workout much more intense and I always feel a lot more satisfied after working out when I've used these and the 'sore' feeling the day after is always stronger when I've used these which I like as I know that I've pushed myself. The improvements aren't huge but they're noticeable; my calves look and feel much more toned and my muscles are noticeably harder when I press on them. I've noticed that the area above the top of of my hips is much more defined than it was prior to using these and I've lost half a stone since I got them however I've been doing a lot of other exercise so if you only use them around the house you may not have such noticeable results.
Since coming to university I turned from an "I hate sports" person to a complete addict when it comes to any kind of fitness or outdoor exercise. One of my biggest passions is competitive cheerleading which involves a lot more than standing around and throwing pompoms in the air. Our team takes part in national competitions showcasing routines that include tumbling, stunting, dancing and jumps. Frankly, I hate jumps. Regardless of how hard I try a tuck jump is the best I can manage even with loads of practice. My goal for the summer holidays was to improve my jumps before the next season starts in October.
Using ankle weights while doing fitness exercises is nothing new and I used them before when I took up running. I figured that they might help me improve my jumps so I ordered some sparkly new weights online. Pineapple is a fairly well known fitness products company and I have several of their accessories (and no, not just because they are pink). The weight set they offer costs just under 10 Pounds online and is a one size fits all product. You can chose between 3 and 5 lbs; for beginners I would recommend going for 3lbs as 5lbs is very, very heavy as I had to discover. If you use them for your ankles it is not too bad but try surviving one hour of fitness yoga with the 5lbs set on your wrists. The two weights are adjustable in terms of their width and can be used as either ankle or wrist weights. The Velcro strap used to adjust the width is very strong and does not get loose even after intensive exercise. Chose the area of your body you want to concentrate most of for maximum effect. If you do running or spinning you will probably want them as ankle weights whereas they are a great way to gain extra arm strength while doing yoga or zumba. I use them to improve my jumps therefore I use them primarily on my ankles.
The theory behind them is that you will get used to the extra weight that you are moving about and once you remove for say competition day your jumps will go much higher as a) there´s less weight and b) your muscles have been strengthened. So far I have used them for the past month while skipping and doing jumps every day. At first I really struggled as the extra weight made skipping a pure torture but I soon got used to it. After the workout I can feel that I exercised my leg muscles much more and I think that I´m building up strength rather quickly. As for my jumps they seem to be improving once I practice without the weights on. Now this could obviously be just my imagination and me wanting to believe in the placebo effect. But secretly I do think that I'm capable of jumping higher and it certainly feels easier and I'm much more confident about them.
I can thoroughly recommend these ankle weights to anyone. They do feel comfortable and their adjustability is a great plus. My feet are quite large and I was worried that I would not be able to put them on. But they fit perfectly on both ankles and wrists. I could imagine that if you have very skinny wrists they might be too large for you though. All in all I´m happy with the money I spend and really believe that they improve my strength and stamina. Highly recommended for anyone that is into cardio exercises and looking to get fit. And of course they are a must for anyone wanting to do cheerleading!
Look wise they are ok. I wish Pineapple would stop producing all pink products and go for some more neutral colours. At least it is not a bright but a rather dark pink with gray bits on it. But the weights look just like sweat bands and they are not too bulky either so I can just about get away with it. The inner lining is comfortable and I never had any problem with any aspect of the product at all. They are strong, durable and well worth the money. And just to clarify, it is 5lbs per weight and not combined which is roughly 2.5kg per side.
Sometimes exercising fails to give good enough results over set time periods. Running, walking and performing such exercises as abdominal crunches and star jumps can fail to enhance muscle groups in sufficient time. That's where this product comes in, the 'ankle and wrist weights' from Pineapple, who produce a range of exercise equipment - a lot of it for both genders and all at reasonable prices. I like the brand and would recommend it as a trustworthy product producer for anyone considering buying the types of items they create.
The ankle and wrist weights are a one-size-fits-all product which (you guessed it) can be attached to either your ankles or wrists. They effectively add weight (3lb per item) to increase the resistance you encounter when moving your limbs, therefore allowing your muscles to build more quickly.
Aesthetically, they look identical to a pair of sweat bands, and so anyone a bit self-conscious of using these will be happy to know they are completely discrete. That is until you use them outside at night, because the external strap which wraps around them is made from a reflective material to promote use outdoors - or more specifically when running / jogging near roads and traffic.
They adopt a Velcro style strap fastening which is unbelievably strong. Besides being slightly irritating to unravel when you want the weights off, the Velcro ensures the product won't slip when exercising and subjecting your wrists / ankles to low G-levels.
Altogether, with everything considered, I really like this product and the brand Pineapple. The product has no floors, the materials used are comfortable and don't make your skin ich like some other alternatives. They also really work, despite the fact you hardly realise their even on after 20 or so minutes of using them. I think jogging and walking long distances with these increases the effectiveness of the workout hugely, you really feel the difference - making you happy you made the purchase in the first place.
As I had some high street vouchers to spend recently I invested in these and a balance ball (see my related review) from JJB Sports. These ankle or wrist weights were £12.99 and are available in either 3lb or 5lb variations. I chose the 3lb variety and am rather glad I did, the difference they make is unbelievable!
Basically the idea is that you wear these while doing exercise and it makes you work harder as you are effectively carrying more weight. So far I have tried doing my regular interval training and a zumba class with them on. I can confirm that for the interval training it was indeed hard work and I could really feel the difference but it was managable. With the zumba class I simply had to take them off halfway through the session because they really were making it virtually impossible!
I have one set and tend to use them on my wrists as I personally do not like the way they feel on my ankles. I think this is why the zumba was so much harder than the interval training because you tend to be waving your arms around a lot more with the zumba moves and therefore you absolutely feel every little bit of the weight. With interval training it is more like straight cardio and therefore you do not notice it so much (although I could feel the difference in my arms afterwards).
These weights come in one size with a very strong vecro style strap fastening so they are fully adjustable and feel quite comfortable to wear. The inside is lined with a terry towelling type material and this soaks up moisture although I still found that my skin was quite sweaty underneath the bands when they were removed. The weights do not slip around on your skin though as the grip is quite tight. I have had no adverse reaction from the material being next to my skin and I have fairly sensitive skin so this is a real positive for me.
Apparently the trim on the outside of the bands is reflective although I have not tested this. I guess this is aimed at people who may wear them when out running or jogging in the dark. I do think these would be ideal for running as you probably would notice them less on this kind of straight cardio exercise.
These look almost like normal sweat bands that you would wear on your wrists anyway, the reflective trim runs round the middle with the Pineapple logo on it and either side is a mid pink colour, pretty inoffensive.
I will carry on using these as I can feel the difference they make, I am not sure whether I will progress on to the 5lb variety for some time yet though!
I was given a pair of Pineapple Ankle and Wrist Weights for a joke present by one of my girl friends when I told her I was taking up going to the gym again - and she said I needed them if I wanted to be like Louis Spence from Pineapple Dance Studios (who I think is fabulous!). But her joke backfired when I started wearing them on the treadmill and cross-trainer - and now I have lost 14 pounds more than her on our dieting competition. Ha!
You can get a pair from JJB Sports for £12.99 which seems very reasonable as they will last you absolutely ages......forever probably. Because I'm a little weed I only have the 3lb weights which are plenty heavy enough for me when I'm exercising - although they also come in 5lbs. They are clearly aimed at the girlie market (or at those men who are very comfortable with their sexuality!) as the bands come in pink and grey and are very Pineapple-Studio's-esque. They should probably come in other colours for those that don't want to advertise their girliness - but for me they are absolutely fine because I think they look really cute.
They are a one-size fits all. The size is adjusted by the velcro strap. As I have very small wrists but quite large ankles, I would say that the size range would be fine for almost anyone - as they fit me. Honestly, my wrists are child sized but my ankles are pretty chunky and they fit me even over my equally chunky joggers. They don't come loose or need readjusting once they are strapped into place.
Like I said, I tend to wear them when I'm on the treadmill or when I'm on the cross trainer as a little additional help to burn the calories and the fat! They feel really comfortable when they are on and don't rub or chaff at all, even when I wear them next to my bare skin. The bands are air cushioned and so feel nice - although obviously they do add weight to your arm / leg which can be tiring after a while. I tend to wear them on my wrists more than my ankles because I find this is where they tend to have the biggest impact. Maybe it would be better to get the 5lb ones for my ankles.
The material is towelling-like and so absorbs any sweat (ugh!) and that really helps when you're exercising. Because of that, the material can get to feel and smell a bit sweaty - but the material is washable and despite washing them about 30 times, they still look almost as good as new.
Like I say, I do believe that these have made a difference to my fitness regime and they way that I have suddenly began to get some definition in my arms. I will continue to use them and for a mere £12.99 it really is worth just strapping them on if you're exercising anyway.
I first bought my Pineapple wrist/ankle weights when I joined an exercise class. They are designed to help strengthen key muscles whilst you are working out. Whilst they are not designed to be heavy weights used to actually tone muscles alone, they do help when partaking in other forms of exercise such as running, jazzercise, aerobics and so on. I had read a bit about them and thought they would be a good idea to make my exercise class that little bit more challenging a swell as helping with general muscle strength.
The weights themselves remind me of larger sweat bands, the ones I bought are pink and grey, however I am not sure if you can get them in other colours or not. The main part of the outside is pink whilst the whole of the inside and the straps to secure the weights in place are grey, they have the word Pineapple written along the strap on each weight. The outside of the weights are made from a tough hard wearing material, to be honest I am not 100% sure this material is, however the insides on the weights (the part which goes next to your skin) is made from terry cloth. The Terrycloth interiors means that the weights are very soft next to your skin and do not rub and make yours wrists/ ankles sore should they move about when exercising. The Terrycloth also makes the weights very absorbent keeping the area you are wearing the weights in feeling fresh and dry, again this prevents the weights from slipping and rubbing against your skin.
The weights are designed to fit around your wrists and ankles, they fasten with a large, strong Velcro style strap, this means that they are fully adjustable so you can have them as tight or as loose as you feel necessary. The weights do not come in several sizes however the adjustable straps means that one size will fit most people. The weights are not fully enclosed and open on one side meaning that they are very easy to slip over your foot or hand, the opening is pulled together when fastening with the strap. I did wonder whether the weights would be a little difficult to stretch over your foot in order to secure them around your ankles, however they are very flexible and with the strap fully loosened I had no problems at all.
I bought my Pineapple weights from JJB, I actually bought them online from their website, they cost me around £9.99 which I thought was an excellent price, when I first decided to look into getting some I thought they were going to be a lot more expensive, but was pleasantly surprised when I saw they would only cost me £9.99. So far they appear to be very durable, the material feels very strong and hard wearing as I have said, and not as if it is going to split from too much pressure. I have used them several times and they look just as good as when I first bought them. I have washed mine by hand, I have not put them in he machine as I am not 100% sure if this would be a good idea, but they looked as good as new once dried, and I was also very impressed at how quickly they did dry, I thought they would take a while as the material is quite thick, however after washing they were fully dried and ready for my next work out.
Wearing the wrist and ankle weights help to strengthen biceps, triceps, hips, thighs and calves, the weights are not so heavy that you will struggle to lift them, but there is just enough weight make your muscles work that little bit harder burning more calories, each weight weights 3lbs. The weights are ideal to wear when running, or doing aerobic style exercises. So far I have been very impressed with my Pineapple ankle/ wrist weights, they have proved to be very successful and I can feel a real difference when wearing them whilst working out compared to if I do not. I cannot say I have noticed a huge difference in my appearance with reference to actual muscle tone, however I can feel that they are making a difference whilst using them. I would definitely recommend these weights to anyone that wants to make their work out that little bit more challenging, and at such a low price they are a bargain.
As I do the most part of my exercise at home in front of a DVD my house is full of at home sports equipment a lot of which I use all the time so I thought as Sport is a high level these days I would try and write about some of the many products I and my mom owns. I basically got these "Pineapple Ankle & Wrist Weights" because a friend of mine bought loads of their exercise products not long ago and is always saying how great everything is so I thought Id test a few of them out for myself to see what I thought. Now I have to admit before buying these Id never used wrist or ankle weights before so I guess I didnt know what to expect but I have to say these are brilliant! And I dont know how I ever worked out without them.
Price: 2 weights - 9.99
Stockists: Amazon, Debenhams & JJB.
Other Info: Light Pink Weights: 3lb Dark Pink Weights 5lb. Only available in one size but they say that should be okay for most people - Ive never had an issue with the sizing + I personally own the 3lb weights.
These really are cute little things - what can I say Im a girly girl! They are light pink & grey with the Pineapple logo across the strap. The strap has velcro on the one side so they can be made bigger or smaller depending on who is wearing them and where you are wearing them because obviously your wrist and ankle are different sizes. They seem to be really comfortable to wear as the material inside in slightly cushioned and dont feel to tight or too heavy at all - I forget that they are there half the time!
Now Im guessing these are designed mainly for people who run or jog a lot but as I mentioned I wear these whilst doing a workout DVD at home so I think they can be worn alongside any type of exercise just to help you burn a few more calories. These are actually designed to help tone your biceps, triceps, hips, thighs and calves depending on where you wear them and they even claim to help you burn extra calories while your working out.
But do they work? I would have to say they do. I definitely think since Ive started using these my muscles have started to tone up much more particularly my thighs and calves they seem to be a lot more toned than they were and Ive been doing the exact same amount of exercise, Ive just added these to the routine! Seems amazing to me that some little 3lb weights on the end of each leg can help you tone up much quicker but believe me it does work, I was surprised!
I would highly recommend these to everyone who already does exercise but just wants to add something more to their routine as these will help you tone up much faster than just doing exercise without them. They are comfy and half the time I forget they are there so nothing about these weights is bad for me! Highly recommended.
Thanks For Reading.

Pineapple Ankle & Wrist Weights
When I came across these while out shopping it brought back a whole range of childhood memories when my brother and I used to play with my mum's wrist weights as toys, I can't remember if we had permission or not. When I bought these I wasn't certain that I would get that much use out of them, but I am determined to lose some weight so I thought that they might even in a small part help. As it turns out I really like them.
These are a one size fits all type product (However they aren't that large fitting) they do offer quite a degree of comfort and flexibility. These have a grip-strip closure, which makes these adjustable to your wrist or ankles. I find that it is better to play around with the strap till the fit feels comfortable because I wear them for longer if they feel secure and snug.
I find that personally I rarely use these as ankle weights I tend to use them mostly as wrist weights because I could really be done with a bit more upper body strength and I would like to have more toned arms. I'm not sure how well it is working but I often wear these when I am doing housework I find that by the end of it I can feel that my arms have been working and I need to stretch the muscles. I haven't yet got up the courage to go outside and do some power walking by myself, it's a case of I just need to jump in and start.
These weights have a lovely soft terrycloth interior, which will absorb a degree of moisture and is not at all harsh on your skin while wearing these. They aren't the most comfortable thing to wear because they are heavy (but then that is the point), but they aren't entirely uncomfortable either.
I purchased mine from my local JJB sports for a reasonable £9.99. I believe these are available in two different weights I own the lighter pink 2lb pair of wrist and/or ankle weights.
I like these and I have found that I have used them more than I thought I would, therefore, I am going to give these a four out of five star rating.
Another item I purchased from the Pineapple range for me to review! This time I am reviewing the Pineapple Ankle & Wrist Weights. I purchased these from JJB and they were the baby pink 3lb weights which cost £9.99. You can get a heavier set which weigh 5lb and are a darker pink for £12.99.
The baby pink ones have a grey reflective strip around them with Pineapple written on the strip in pink.
You attached these weights to your wrists or ankles during a work out (or you can purchase another set and have one on each wrist and one on each ankle) to make your work out more effective and to build up a bit more of a sweat. These weights claim to tone and strength key muscles during aerobic exericises and burn extra calories. Also they strengthen biceps and triceps as well as toning hips, thighs and calves.
You can use these weights when you go out jogging but I hate people seeing me exercise so I have never worn these outside. I always do my exercises indoors. If you do use them outdoors though, they have reflective strips on them for nighttime. I should also mention that the insides of them are made of a terry cloth material which absorbs the sweat really well as well as being gentle against your skin. These do not rub the skin which was a nice surprise.
I use these weights mostly on my ankles as I want to tone up my legs. I have found that my ankles are toning and slimming up as are my thighs and calves. These are not exceptionally heavy but they are heavy enough to do some work to your body. I haven't yet seen the need to purchase the 5lb ones. I use them about 4 times a week.
I definately recommend them as they do tone up the legs. I have only ever used them on my wrist once or twice but seeing as my upper half isn't the area I want to tone I can't really comment on what they do for the upper body.
Pineapple Ankle & Wrist Weights
I used to be a gym freak when i was younger this was before i had my girls. My life is way to busy these day to go to the gym, i have uni , the girls, my partner and the house to do everyday so it is very rare i get me time. Plus any me time i have had lately has been on dooyoo.
I have used ankle and wrist weights for years, even used to wear them to work under my clothes no one noticed.
I decided now i have spent a good few years slacking and after having the girls i just do have the same shape of body now it has been replace with lumps and bumps yuk.
I spent £20.00 in jjb buying two sets of the pineapple weights.
For one set it is £9.99 but i wear one set on each ankle and one set on each wrist, i forgot just how heavy they are on.
I only use them around the house for a few hours a day and they seam to be working all over my body i feel parts and definitely getting toned and tightened.
My pineapple weights are baby pink and grey like the picture but lighter pink and are 3lb each.
The weights hold on with strong velcro fasteners.
The box says they help tone calves, tone hips, and thighs.
These come in one size only but says the fit all, they definitely fit me and are comfortable to wear. I will continue to use these around the house.
I recommend these.
I bought these ankle and wrist weights a couple of months ago when I had some JJB vouchers, at the time they was on special offer and I got the 5lb weights for £9.99 plus the 3lb weights for £6.99. The usual price is £3.00 extra on each set. For your money you get 2 weights, they have both got an adjustable tab on them so that you can use them on ankles or wrists. It's a shame you don't get 4 in a pack, I thought that at the time anyway but now I think about it I've got the best of both worlds because I use the 3lb weights on my wrists and the heavier ones on my ankles to give my legs the proper workout.
They're very comfortable to wear, they don't feel all that heavy when you first put them on but believe me they start to weigh your arms down big time after not long at all! I usually use mine when I'm on the Wii Fit board, the exercises for that are pretty good but I like having the weights to put on to make it a bit more of a work out. I use the wrist weights a lot more than the ankle ones because the only legs exercises I really do is the step because I do a lot of walking in the day, even though they look good I definately wouldn't want to be wearing them to walk the streets in or when I'm going out with my mates!
As well as helping you to burn more calories using these weights will help to tone your muscles and define the shape of your arms and calves. I don't use them all that regular to say how much my actual shape has changed but I can tell you my muscles deffo know they've done some work after using these compared to exercising with no extra weights.
The velco tabs hold the weights closed and I've never had one spring open on me, they sit nice on my wrists too and don't make my skin go all sweaty while I'm exercising. I had some wrist weights from Argos last year but had to stop using them because they was dead plasticy and actually made the skin on my wrists sore because I'd been sweating underneath them so much. These ones seem to be ventilated good and they've made them out of a material that helps my skin to breathe.
There is a reflective strip on each weight to make them suitable for using outdoors, I've not worn them outside but have noticed the weights shine round the sides if they cop a direct beam of light so I think they'd be quite safe to use if you was jogging at night.
I like the chunky feel of them because you can wrap them nice and snug around your wrist like a blood pressure machine, that makes them comfortable to wear and means you don't have to keep worrying about them coming loose. I've tried a few ankle and wrist weights, at the gym I used to use they had a cupboard for them and members could decide if they wanted to wear them for their workout or not..... these are deffo the best and not even all that expensive I don't think.
Recommended..... give yourself a bit of a push during your workout!
*What Are They*
Pineapple Ankle And Wrist Weights are just that they are weights that can be attatched to the ankle or wrist during excercise in order to make the workout more effective. The weights are pink and grey in colour (baby pink for the 3lb weights or a darker pink for the 5lb weights). They have a contoured design and adjustable tabs so one size should fit everyone they also have a reflective trim for night time visibility if you want to wear them out jogging (although i personally have never worn thenm outside).
*What They Do*
The weights are designed to strengthen biceps and triceps as well as tone hips, thighs and calves and help you burn extra calories in excercise. I think these weights are probably designed to wear out jogging/walking but i personally just wear them whilst doing workout DVD's.
*Where To Buy*
I personally only own the baby pink 3lb weights which i purchased for a couple of pound in the Debenhams sale. Both the 3lb and 5lb weights are currently sold in JJB Sports for £9.99 (3lb) and £12.99 (5lb)
*What I Thought*
As with the rest if the Pineapple range i found the weights really attractive, which is probably more important if you plan on wearing them out jogging or something. The 3lb weights are not too heavy although personally i think they are heavy enough and wouldnt need the 5lb ones but that probably depend on how fit/strong you are. I also prefer using them on my ankles rather than wrist as they do hurt my wrist more, wheras on my ankle i can really feel it having an effect whilst im excercising.
