An effective toning rower from Pineapple

This Pilates rower was another thing I bought during my pilates fad which I used religiously for a few weeks only for it to be consigned to the back of the cupboard to gather dust when I moved on to my next exercise phase. It is made by Pineapple who are a mid range brand I really like as I find their products to usually be top notch when it comes to quality and sturdiness which is an important feature when it comes to exercise equipment.

I paid £7.99 for mine but this was in a sale and I recently saw it in my local sports store selling for £11.99 which still isn't a bad price for it in my opinion.
The rower is supposed to work your body just like a traditional rowing machine would but just with using the resistance of your own muscles to elongate and tighten them.

To use it you just need to put your feet in the stirrups and then grab the handle and make a rowing action. The handle is attached to the stirrups by a cord which has a resistance to it which in turn makes you use your own muscles to work out your abs, legs and bum. Basically you need to just lie down and mimic a rowing action and your body does the rest of the work for you.

The rower is really easy to use but this is quite deceptive as you can do it and feel fine but the next day you can really feel the burn in your muscles which does show that it is working. To be honest I found the rower to be a bit of a faff to use and used to put off doing it but to give it it's due credit it really does work at tightening the muscles and making them stronger and leaner in quite a short time if you stick with it.
It also was nothing like the pilates I learnt on the short course I did but you can pick up how to do it in a really short amount of time.

As I mentioned for a mid range brand Pineapple are usually really good and this rower is no exception and everything about it is good quality right down to the rubber foam which covers the handles. It stops you from slipping and even now with it having been sat in a cupboard for ages has no sign of wanting to rip and come off.

If you are interested in doing some mild pilates at home then this could be just the thing that you are looking for. It does work providing you are willing to put in the effort with it and as it is quite cheap and so easy to store without taking up much room you really aren't risking much by trying it out for yourself and seeing if you like it.

      Disadvantages

a great cheap item to pick up for exercise

I tend to be an on again, off again, on again kind of exerciser, I like the idea of exercise, but I get bored so easily that after a few months of using a product, it goes into the garage where I promise myself I will use it again in the future.

I picked up the Pineapple Pilates Rowing Action Exerciser as kind of an impulse buy, I seen it really cheap in TK Maxx (£5) and thought I might as well give it a try.

The Pineapple Pilates Rowing Action Exerciser
This is a plastic pale pink exercise gadget that is very simple but when you use it, it is very effective. It is basically a cheap and more easily stored version of a rowing machine that has no real electronics to it, it is just simple plastic.

It is designed to work on areas such as your abs, arms and legs, so it is a good workout for your body, though I have to admit, when I first bought mine, I struggled to do 50 of these, now after a few months I do 150-200 easily three times a week. It is hard to do at first, but I am glad I stuck with it.

There is a place to put your feet into and then an elastic tough string that leads to foam handlebars. The idea is that you put your feet into the sockets, lye on the floor and then pull yourself up and lye back again over and over again while pulling on the handle bars, this gives you a rowing simulation, it is really easy to do and is great for building your abs, which is mostly the reason why I bought it.

This little exercise aid is much more sturdier than it looks, I have been using it on and off for over a year and it still is going strong, it is plastic, so it is easily cleaned and the foam handle bars are really easy to grip and keep a hold off when you are exercising, it is quite comfortable to use this Rowing Action Exerciser because of this. The rubber string that connects the feet and handle bars is quite tough and thankfully mine hasn't broke yet, this can sometimes be a problem with cheaper exercising gadgets like this one.

I have really enjoyed using this exercising gadget, and think that it was a really good buy, I have spent quite a bit of time on mine, and like to use it at least three times a week, so far I have been using it for a few months and have found the results on both my abs and my arms quite good. I would definitely recommend the Pineapple Pilates Rowing Action Exerciser and give it 4 out of 5 stars.

The only flaw that I can find in the Pineapple Pilates Rowing Action Exerciser is that there is no electronic counter to give you information on how many pulls ups you have done or any other information such as the amount of time you have spent during your exercise session or how many calories you are likely to have burned, but I guess that for £5 I couldn't really expect much more from my device.

      Price and Availability
I bought my Pineapple Pilates Rowing Action Exerciser in TK Maxx for £5, however this was probably a one off buy as they have new stock coming in all the time and never seem to re-order old stock back in. Though you can buy it online for in around £9.99 which also is quite a good price in my opinion.

      Overall
I have really enjoyed using this exercising gadget, and think that it was a really good buy, I have spent quite a bit of time on mine, and like to use it at least three times a week, so far I have been using it for a few months and have found the results on both my abs and my arms quite good. Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Worth a try

This is a neat little contraption that I picked up for a bargain price of £4.99 as it was the only one left in the Sports Direct store and was in the clearance section of the store as they were trying to get rid of old stock.

This rather bright pink product is not intended to give a high intensity cardio work out that you would get on a conventional rowing machine rather it is intended to tone the muscles especially in your bum, thighs and stomach as well as the lower leg calf muscles and to that effect it has proven to be surprisingly effective. I have also found the stretching to be beneficial to my back muscles as well.

It is effectively a rubber rope with two foot rests, one point of warning is that these are certainly designed for women's feet, my other half cannot really get his size 10's in them without risking a break. The handle has a bit of padding so it does not rub on your hands however I still find it more comfortable to use this with some exercise gloves as I get a more comfortable grip.

There are quite a few ways that you can use this device to stretch and tone your muscles and you are not just restricted to the conventional rowing action however if you do then I find that my abs get a decent work out. I have also used it with my legs slightly off the ground and using it to tense out on my abs with both feet and shoulders raised off the ground. It can take a little bit of getting used to and I found I was not confident at first as I was worried about how strong the device would be.

It has proven to be pretty study and the rubber rope has retained its elasticity and resistance pretty well over a four month period of use. Combined with an exercise mat and some gloves it is a nice piece of kit. In addition it is easy to wipe clean after use with a damp cloth and easy to store as it takes up little space.

Overall a nice simple piece of kit that does work quite well and was certainly worth the price I paid for it.

        Disadvantages

A piece of equipment to tone the arms, stomach and thighs

I hate exercising and have a wardrobe full of gadgets and equipment that will tone me up as quickly as possible with minimum effort on my part. The equipment that sees the light of day the most often are invariably the ones that make 'exercising' more fun and less of a chore.

While my friend was searching in JJBs for some new trainers, a pretty pink gadget caught my eye that was unlike anything that was already in my sometimes dusty collection. The Pilates Rowing Action Exerciser by Pineapple is a piece of equipment that is designed to tone your abdominal, thigh and bottom muscles while strengthening your back and arm muscles. Not bad claims from such a tiny piece of equipment.

        What does it look like?
The Rowing Action Exerciser is a very small contraption. The main body is a long rubber type rope which is a cute candyfloss pink in colour and it has two black foot rests with a pink strap to hold your feet in place. The handle is black and padded to ensure your comfort. Mine cost me £9.99 from JJB but I'm sure if you shop around you'll find one for cheaper as it is also available from many online websites.

        How do you use it?
The piece of equipment is simple to use and a variety of activities can be carried out using it. My favourite one is sit on the floor with my legs flat on the ground. After putting my feet into the foot rests, I take the handles and perform a rowing action. You'll feel this one mainly in your arms and stomach.

Another exercise that can be performed is one where you lay on your back with your legs knees bent and feet in the air. While holding onto the handles, you repeatedly bend and straighten the legs. You'll feel this one in the thighs, arms and stomach. But in general you can just have fun with this piece of equipment and try out different positions.

Whatever you choose to do with this then it will be toning some body part. I try to do twenty repetitions, rest, and then do twenty more but that can be varied according to ability and fitness. I don't usually use this for more than 15 minutes at a time because I feel that this is enough for me. The most important thing is to work through the burn as that's the way to see the quickest results which will in turn give you more motivation.

        How does it work?
When our muscles look toned, it is because they have tension in them while the rest of our body is relaxed. This tension is created by repeating an action which requires the muscles again and again. The more the action is repeated, the more tension is built.

As the tension is built, the muscles begin to burn fat cells too so you will also get a bit slimmer with continual use. If you don't use the muscles for a while, the tension goes and you'll become all wobbly again so it's important to be dedicated to the cause.

        My thoughts
This is a handy piece of equipment that can be used quickly when you spot a ten minute gap in your hectic day. It's not likely to get you worked up into too much of a sweat so you can use it before work without feeling all messy and horrible for the rest of the day.

With daily use, and if possible use of more than once a day, it does result in a more toned body. I would say it tones all body parts equally as long as you switch techniques now and again so that you are using all of your muscles.

You'll need to use an exercise mat or find a soft surface if you want use this in comfort, otherwise your bones can dig into a hard surface and hurt. There's no point making exercise more unpleasant than it already it. That said, this isn't particularly unpleasant to use as the exercises are fairly easy to do and you can feel it working which motivates me keep going.

The equipment is small enough to be easily carried around the house and it is simple to store away as it really doesn't take up much room. You can also watch television while doing this or have a chat will someone as it's not a particularly strenuous and this takes your mind off the activity and enables you to work out for longer.

One word of warning is to make sure that your feet are securely and completely in the footrests before beginning as a lot of tension is built up in the centre part and you do not want your feet slipping out and the lower half of this machine smacking you in the face.

All in all, this is a fun and pretty pink piece of equipment which will help to tone your body when used regularly. I have noticed an improvement in all promised areas apart from maybe my bottom and back. It's quick and easy to use and fairly cheap. I am happy with both the results and the fun factor so I'm giving it high marks.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

a great exercise machine that doesnt take up lots of space

Whilst trying to get back in shape after the birth of my daughter I needed something to sort out my stomach muscles so spoke to a friend of mine who is exercise mad and always in the gym. He suggested I get a rowing machine but with all the new baby stuff in the house I was really short on space so hadn't got the room for a full sized rowing machine so when I saw this in the sports store I thought it was worth giving it a go as it gives very similar exercise and I can store it away easily when it is not in use.

I paid £9.99 for this rowing equipment, which I think, is a very reasonable price to pay for such a good item.

Using this helps to strengthen your abs and after just having had a baby that was something I seriously needed to do if I was going to get any where near a flat stomach again.
It also works your back, your thighs and your buttocks but in a nice non jolting motion so it did not cause any pain or aggravation to my back which was a little aggravated from carrying the bump around for 9 months.

The handles have a really nice comfy sponge type grip on them making them easy to hold on to and stopping them hurting or blistering my hands. The foot ads are also very comfortable but I wouldn't want to use it without my shoes on as this would probably be uncomfortable but I haven't had any problems with them slipping or anything with my trainers on.

This is a really easy piece of exercise equipment to use and could be used by any one of any fitness level, it is good for your arms as well to keep them toned up I have used this along with my abs roller for really nice results, no six pack or anything but a nice firm tummy again.

        Disadvantages

        a nice item

        ==Pineapple Pilates Rowing Action Exerciser==

I won't lie to you by saying that I really needed another piece of exercise equipment filling up the house because I really didn't as I have so much stuff but most of it is hardly ever used. However the fact remained that I have embarked on a new fitness regime yet again and this time (like all the others) I felt I needed a new piece of equipment to make me work harder.

The Rowing Action Exerciser was not something I had seen before and for £10 (from JJB Sports) I could hardly turn it down (I think I have all exercise items £20 or under in our house!)

The item is simple and is basically a tough rubber resistance band with a foam type handle bar at the top and two foot straps at the other end. The handle bar material means it gives good grip even when hands become a little bit sweaty and the rubber material of the foot section means that feet are held in place well aided of course by the straps.

The idea of using it is pretty straight forward in that your feet get fully inserted into the bottom of the item with the straps across the top of your foot and you hold on to each end of the handle bar and begin to simulate rowing.

There is a small information leaflet inside the box in which the Rowing item came with and this shows you the correct posture you will need to complete the exercise safely.

I find the exercise easy to follow but after a while it does get tiring. It is not as good as being on a proper rowing machine but then for £10 you wouldn't think it would be. It is small and easy to store which makes it great for small flats and houses (and people who won't be using it that often).

The item is cheap, easy to use and does give good results. I would recommend doing it on a gym mat though as laminated floor doesn't make the most comfortable of work out areas.

I think for the price it is a nice item to add to my collection. It is made of good stuff which seems strong and durable so will last a long time to come. I have had it out on a good few occasions and more often than not built up a good sweat.

On the whole I feel a good item which is affordable so for that reason a 5 out of 5 star rating and a high recommendation!

Many thanks for taking the time to read.

I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Not really my cup of tea.

I am a bit of a couch potato when it comes to excersise, although, in the course of a day I do a huge amount of walking, which keeps me fit. Like many women, my "problem area" is my abs. Oh how I long for a washboard stomach! Whilst there are many very expensive products on the market which claim to give you perfect abs, there is no point me wasting money on them, as I know I will be enthusiastic initially and then give up! However, if a product is cheap enough, and looks as though it will work, I will have a punt on it. This bit of equipment is a prime example of such a product. They sell for £9.99 from JJB's.

The first thing I like about the "Rower", is the fact that it is small in size and can be stored away easily in a cupboard, unlike a large, bulky rowing machine! The Rower basically consists of a foamy handle at one end, a piece of rubbery stretchy piping in the middle, and some stirrup-like food pads at the bottom. The idea is basically to do sit ups, the rubber tubing providing resistance, as well as assistance, in your excersise.

The product is really easy to use, and suitable for people of different heights and builds, although it is primarily designed for women (ours is pink!). To get started, you simply lie on your back on a hard floor, slip your feet into the "stirrups" and, with knees slightly bent, pull yourself up into a sitting position, whilst holding the handle, before resuming your lying down position, pulling the handle up as far as is comfortable. You can repeat the excersise as many times as you like. The JJB website states the benefits of this excersise as follows:

"Rowing helps develop and strengthen your abs, back, thighs, and buttocks - in a smooth, rhythmic and impact free motion. The Pilates Rowing Action Exerciser lets enjoy aerobic conditioning and strength training exercises in the convenience of your own home. "

          *Cushioned grips
          *Comfortable foot pads
          *Heavy-duty resistance tubing
          *Tone thighs
          *Tighten abs
          *Strengthen arms and back
          *Firm buttocks
          *Aerobic conditioning
          *Strength training

So what is my personal experience with the product? Well, when I first had it, I was determined to spend 15 minutes every day doing rowing excersises! The first thing I noticed after doing a few reps, was the strain in my arm muscles. The rower seemed to have a much more powerful effect on my arms than it did on my stomach, which didn't really feel any different after excersise. I was impressed with the resistance level of the rubber, as I thought it would be a lot easier to pull than it was.

I didn't really find that the rower pushed me aerobically, as I did not feel out of breath after using it and my heart rate didn't really go up much. As for the claims of toned things and buttocks, I can't really say I noticed much difference. My interest in the product waned, and it ended up consigned to the cupboard, where it has been ever since, except when I get an occassional urge to excersise!

I am giving the product 3 stars as it is a cheap way to excersise and stores away easily. It works very well at toning the arms. I dropped 2 stars because it gets boring and repetitive, and I did not find that it made much difference to my abs, buttocks or thighs. I'm sure that people who persist with this product would have more success than me!

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            One I would recommend

After my disaster with the Pineapple Thigh Toner ( previous review) I moved on to the Pineapple Pilates Rowing Action Exerciser. This is like a little portable rowing machine. Its in the same girly pink as the other Pineapple Keep Fit things and costs just £9.99.

The Pilates Rowing Action Exerciser is just like a little flexible rowing machine. It has two pedals which I found comfortable and didn't in any way hurt or make my feet ache. There is a pink strap over the pedals. Attached to the pedals you have a length of resistant tubing. At the end of these are the handles. These are just a bar to hold on to but are nicely shaped and cushioned.

The first time I used my Rowing Action Exerciser I was really pleased. I had been very dubious after using or trying to use the Thigh Toner but my worries were soon forgotten. The resistant tubing is quite tough to pull and was a lot stronger than it actually looked.
My feet stayed nice in the pedals and didn't slip at all. I felt no need to grip the pedals with my feet, they stayed put. They were comfortable too.
The hand bar was easy to grip too. it's a nice shape, and as you are gripping onto this quite tightly the cushioning really does make it nice and easy.
It can be used standing or sitting.

I used the Rowing Exerciser in the lounge in front of the television. I find if I'm listening to something I can row for longer and it makes it a bit less boring.

The next day I could really feel I had exercised the night before. My muscles felt well worked in fact I felt like I had rowed the Channel!!

I am really pleased with my Pineapple Pilates Rowing Action Exerciser. For under £10 (just) it's a nice little piece of keep fit gear. Its small and flexible so can easily be stored in a cupboard or the bottom of the wardrobe. My friend got one too after I recommended it and she sometimes brings hers round and we exercise together.

Although its nothing like a real rowing machine in the gym its good enough. Well worth the money.

              my review

When finally moving my bum into gear with all the hopes under the sun to get fit and in shape for this summer i decided to go for the cute pink girly pineapple fitness range that i had spotted in JJB sports store.
I went a tat mad and bought everything the had in the store but it was incredibly cheap and i was no stranger to exercise had been a gym member for 6 years before my girls come along.
The pineapple pilates rowing action exerciser cost £9.99 from Jjb.
The idea of this contraption is it gives the same workout as a rowing machine. The rowing exerciser is pink and black but the black parts are foam grips making it very comfortable to use. You basically put both feet on the foam grip foot pads and hold the handle and pull out and the tubes in the middle stretch, i was worried i could brake it if i pulled to hard but its heavy duty and that wont happen. The contraption helps to tone abs, back, and thighs.
I have been using this rowing action exerciser for three months now along with other exercise equipment. It is very compact and does not need a lot of floor space to use. It is very comfortable and easy to use can really hurt mussels if over used at first so please be aware of this and build it up slowly.
I feel this rowing action exerciser has definitely helped me get my shape back, out of all the equipment i like this one the best and use it more than others. I have now lost weight and toned up all over so i am very happy with help from the pineapple equipment and my determination it has worked.

I highly recommend the rowing action exerciser but it is a bit addictive :-)

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

                See review :)

The rowing action exerciser was a substitute after I'd bought a rowing machine that turned out to be a BIG disappointment! I purchased the product from JJB sports for £9.99 which was a very reasonable price in contrast to an actual rowing machine.

The Pineapple Pilates rowing action exerciser is supposed to help develop & strengthen your abdomen, back, thighs & derrière by replicating the workout you would experience if you used a rowing machine, but not the aerobic aspect.

In comparison to a rowing machine the exerciser takes up hardly any room it's very small and easy to store & clean! It has two cushioned grips at the top that you hold when exercising and two comfortable padded stirrups where you place your feet at the bottom. In-between the two is heavy-duty resistance tubing that connects them both; it is extremely hard-wearing!

The piece of equipment does seem to make the Pilate exercises a lot more enjoyable and when exercising it works the majority of your body or at least for me the parts are see as more important. When exercising I was comfortable throughout the whole routine and it's incredibly simple to use. With Pilate exercises you're strengthening, toning & tightening.

I would say it's a very helpful piece of fitness apparatus but I didn't feel anymore of a difference doing the exercises as I would without the exerciser even so I do prefer working out with the product than without.

I highly recommend this product however for any potential male readers you might want to go with another brand as it's only available in baby pink!

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

                -

The Pineapple Pilates Rowing Action Exerciser was the last thing that JJB had in the Pineapple range. It cost £9.99. I was very intrigued by this particular piece of equipment as it said that it is as good as a rowing machine. I found this hard to believe as well as wondering how it would work but was compelled to buy it.

Like everything else in the range, this was pink and black again. I have to admit that the whole set together does look really nice. The rower is made of black foam where you put your feet (the little things which resemble stirrups) and there is tubing in the middle of the stirrups where the bungee like cord connects. At the end of this cord are the black, cushioned handles. The cord and the tubing are both very well made and I think they would be very hard to break.

Still intrigued by how this could possibly be like a rowing machine, I read the instructions on how to use it and the instructions told me that rowing helps develop and strengthen your abs, back, thighs and bum and it gives you the freedom to try out these exercises in your own home without the worry of anyone watching you. I got down to business after reading the instructions.

I found that the rower was very easy to use though it does not really resemble a rowing machine at the gym! It was possible to do the excercises either standing up or laying down. I tend to do both just to mix it up a little bit. After a few weeks alongside using the other items I had purchased, you could really see my stomach tightening back up and I was left wondering why I hadn't used these before. Everything really does work (apart from the thigh toner). If you do buy this item, I recommend buying the Pineapple mat as well because if you are going to do the rowing exercises laying down, you're going to need to be comfortable as your muscles do start to ache and burn after a little while though I always think this is a sign that something is going right as it is no pain no gain!

Highly recommended though I wouldn't believe the claims that it is exactly like a rowing machine!

Great Value Pilates Rower, Must Have If You Want Toned Abs, Thighs And Bum!!!!

When I picked up this Pineapple Pilates Rowing Action Excerciser in the shop and read on the box that it provides a similar workout as a rowing machine, i have to admit i was a little skeptical but excited to give it a try all the same. And although comparing it to a workout on a rowing machine is a little ambitious of them, it is still a really great value and effective piece of gym equipment.

                  *Where To Buy*

I purchased this along with most of my other Pineapple gym equipment in the Debenhams January sale, i cant curreently find it opn the Debernhams website to find out the full price but i paid about £4. It can also be purchased from JJB Sports for £9.99 which i think is quite a reasonable price, but it is worth holding out for a sale!!

                  *What Is It*

Those of you who have read my other reveiws will have realised by now that all of the Pineapple gym equipment comes in the girly signature colours of black and baby pink and this is no different. The Pilates Rower is made of foam and has comfortable cushions to place your feet and grips for your hands. The tube in the middle of the two is heavy-duty resistance tubing, meaning its impossible to pull it too hard and break it.

                  *What It Does*

As i said before the Pilates Rower is suppose to replicate the workout achieved from a rowing machine, (the kinds you find in a gym or can purchase for your home). It tones your thighs and bum, tightens abs and strengthens arm and back.

                  *What I Thought*

I found the rower really easy and comfortable to use. It is possible to use it in both a standing or lying down position (i prefer lying down) and the foam material and cushioned foot pads with grips means its really comfortable and doesn't slip out of your hands or feet during use. Aftyer using the rower for around 10 minutes i could already feel the muscles in my abs and thighs working hard and after a few weeks it is possible to both see and feel results. On top of this i personally find the design really girly and attractive but it does limit this product to only girls and even then it may not be everyones taste. Although personally i love having a complete matching pink gym set!!!

I think this is definitley one of Pineapple better and more effective pieces of gym equipment and would reccomend it top everyone as its really great value even at full price and it really works!!
