Recommended for those on a budget.

As some of you may be aware, my daughter and I are on a pre-Christmas fitness regime in order to try and shed pounds before Christmas. We are going to the gym, but we're both too busy to be going every day and so we try to do at least an hour of exercise per day at home using some of the low-tech equipment we have assembled. One such piece of equipment in the Pineapple Thigh Toner which we bought on the understanding that it can be used to tone the thighs, as well as the arms and chest......every little helps!! The Pineapple Thigh Toner cost me just £7.99 from JJB sport and, like most Pineapple equipment, the cost seemed very reasonable and was an amount I was willing to pay.

Like every other piece of Pineapple equipment we own, the Pineapple Thigh Toner is a deliciously girly pink - which is great for those among us who don't mind identifying with girlie pink, but I do think it's appeal would be somewhat limiting! I bought it already assembled and so there were was no fiddily DIY which is always a bonus as DIY really isn't my forte! Basicially, the thigh toner is two pieces of metal which are joined together in the centre on a spring mount and covered in pink foam for comfort. The idea is that you put the contraption between your things and then squeeze together and then gently release, repeating the action several times. I tend to do 40 times in the morning and 40 times in the evening - and I also use it on my arms, simply holding the contraption out in front of me and squeezing the two metal parts together in an easy motion. I find using this piece of equipment is really easy, although a lot more taxing on my muscles than I actually thought it would be.

I do find that the spring tension is set just about right for me, but the fact that this tension can't be altered is a definite negative because surely we all have different strengths and abilities. In addition to this, I think the foam on the two "handles" could be a little better as the foam is quite smooth and so doesn't lend much friction when I'm using it, meaning that the contraption is prone to slipping during usage and I have to stop to reposition it.....which can get in the way of maintaining a good rhythm and make using it sometimes a bit frustrating. I do like the fact that the foam handles can be wiped over because sometimes they can get a bit sweaty and so wiping them over with a damp cloth does keep them clean. I also find that the equipment is robust and in the last 3 months that I've had it and used it daily, it's still in perfect working order and looks and feels like it did when it was new.

As for whether it works......well, I feel it does. It has toned my thighs without making them really muscley - which was the effect I was really going for. I don't think it's a quick fix and it's taken 3 months to get the effect I was looking for, but perseverance has paid off. The only thing is that I do find using it sometimes pulls on my lower back where I had surgery for a prolapsed disc a few years ago and so this can be uncomfortable - but my physio seems to think it's not going to cause any damage.

Overall, I would recommend this product if you're wanting to exercise on a budget. It's not perfect....but it costs under a tenner!

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      good but hard work

The Pineapple thigh toner is one of those items that I have bought over the years convinced that I was going to use religiously and then proceeded to use a few times before it finally got relegated to its new life in the back of one of my cupboards.

I bought it from a sports shop in town and I think it cost me in the region of £7. The thigh toner is made from two pieces of metal which have a spring mechanism in the middle and are covered in a pink foam. The spring mechanism gives the toner its resistance which when you squeeze it together between your legs helps to firm your muscles making your thighs more lean and less wobbly.

I have always had a slight fear with these sorts of toners as I have always been scared that it is going to either snap in half when I'm squeezing or else go flying off into my face but this one has always seemed secure enough and I have never felt too worried about it snapping. The foam is of quite a good quality and does help to make it more comfortable and also stops it from slipping too much.

As well as using the toner for your thighs you can also use it to tone your arms and shoulder muscles just by moving the positioning of your arms. When using it you can really feel the burn so you know that you must be doing something right.

The reason that I didn't use this all that much was because it is a lot more difficult to use than I had imagined. The spring mechanism is really tight which means that it takes a lot of effort to squeeze it together. I had bought it thinking that I could use it whilst watching the TV but because it takes so much concentration I couldn't really do that.

I would recommend this as although I stopped using it that was because I am a bit lazy and couldn't really be bothered to dedicate the time required to see results from it. It is well made and the times I did use it I could feel my muscles beginning to burn after only squeezing a few times. In fact after writing this review I think that I will hunt my one out and start using it again and see about getting my legs looking more toned in time for the Christmas party season.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

There is better out there for under £10

The Pineapple Thigh Toner is one of a set of pastel pink coloured exercise equipment which is aimed at teenage to late 20s women. The Pineapple brand is known for being a dance gym and their clothes have been around for quite a while now - candy coloured tracksuits, gym wear and bowling bags, and aside from having their own high street shops they sell equipment in stores such as Debenhams, JJB Sports, Sport Soccer and online.

This Thigh Toner costs £8 and is designed to primarily focus on the upper leg, toning, building muscle and trimming fat. Of course, any exercise regime is best with a healthy eating plan, and with this in mind I purchased the Pineapple Thigh Toner - to help me tone the thigh area whilst following a healthy diet, as I can't really get to the gym, being a new mother. This is an exercise I thought I could fit inbetween the nappy changes, feeds and everything else.

The basic idea is one you are probably already familiar with - two 'hooks' of metal covered in a thick rubber pipe which serve as handles if you are doing arm exercises, and for something for your thighs to rest on, if you are doing leg. They are connected by a black plastic covered spring. The idea is you push against the spring, hold it, and release, and enough reps of this constitutes a workout.

In principle however, it's not that good, simple, or easy. The Pineapple Thigh Toner seems to want to fly off in random directions, and is really rather dangerous - in fact I stopped using it in the lounge or near my daughter, in case I broke the TV (or harmed her!). It's quite difficult to build up a decent rhythm and build up any sort of a sweat, so you don't really feel like you've worked out, or burned any calories. Even when you are holding it with your hands and doing upper arm exercises, it doesn't feel quite safe. For this reason I barely use it, having tried to master it maybe five or six times. To be honest even if it wasn't a dangerous missile it's not very stimulating, and as you can't work out quickly, it will take a lot longer to get the results you want as opposed to say a stepper where you can go as fast or as slow as you like.

Overall this is not bad a price, at £8, but it is on the flipside, near worthless, as I really can't see how anyone can tame it enough to work out to a decent degree with it, and get serious results. There is a lot of exercise kit on the market for under £10 and therefore all I can recommend you do is read the reviews on DooYoo (and I've tried a lot of exercise equipment myself!) and purchase something which has a bit more fun involved, as well as being safer.

I can only really give this 2 stars out of 5 - it's an OK price, it looks nice and doesn't take up too much space. If, by some divine intervention you can stop it from catapulting across the room, and you don't mind the lack of variety, I guess you could burn a few calories with this or tone up, but only if you're extremely patient and have a lot of free time - sadly I do not.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Not for me but not a total dud

After my first pregnancy last year I went on a concerted effort to get back to fitness and without initially the benefit of gym membership and so I used a lot of equipment in the house and this thigh toner from Pineapple was one such item. On the plus side it was nice and cheap as it was under a tenner and it was nice and comfortable to use at there was quite a good amount of padding on the metal bars. The padding is a very girly pink colour however it does show any dirt and marks quite easily which is a negative for me.

The bars are curved and operate off a central spring, the idea is that you fit it between your thighs and then squeeze your legs inwards which forces the bars to move towards each other as you use your thigh muscles, you certainly do feel the strain when you start to use this however one of its limitations is the fact that it is rather one dimensional as you cannot adjust the tension in it, so initially it is very hard to close however over time you have to rely more on repetition rather than being able to increase the load needed which you can on far more expensive gym equipment.

It can be used on your arms as well however I did not find it very comfortable to do this, plus it is not the safest piece of equipment as you have to also control it with your legs effectively and if you drop it then it can be painful as i discovered when I dropped it and it caught my ankle bone. Personally I found that it had limited relevance, fine as part of an exercise routine but a bit one dimensional and something I only used a little at a time. It is better than doing nothing I guess but there are other ways to tone and strengthen your thighs rather than using this type of product. At least with the low price you are not too much out of pocket.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        a good beginners toner

I was looking for something to use to tone the muscles in my legs without adding any bulk to them after the birth of my baby a year ago when I spotted this in a local sports store for £7.99 what really made this appeal to me out of all the others in the store was that it was pink in colour and obviously aimed at women as I didn't want to buy something that would give too much resistance and I wouldn't be able to use.

I initially brought this to use to tone up the muscles in my legs but after purchasing it realised it could also be used for my arms and chest as well, which is great as I got an all in 1 toner for a reasonable price.

It is a very simple piece of kit to use as all you have to do is squeeze it together using the body part you want to firm up and the coating in the bars make it easy to use as it doesn't slip and very comfortable to use too.

The resistance is created by the steel spring in the middle, when I first started to use this 12 months ago it was a bit of a struggle to push it together more than ten times without my body aching but I have slowly progressed with this and now find it easy and enjoyable to do, it does work but slowly so don't expect any over night miracles and it takes around 6 weeks of use to start seeing much difference.

There is a fitness guide in with the toner too, which is helpful.

This is a good toner for beginners like my self but it wouldn't really give enough resistance to someone who was already toned and certainly wouldn't give enough for most men

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        No pain, no gain!

I went into this, my fourth and final, pregnancy knowing I was already overweight. Well I didn't actually, but damn my fertility that had me looking at a positive pregnancy test within a month of deciding we wanted another baby! I thought I'd have a few months at least to lose the excess pounds, but nature isn't like that and I have found myself definitely (or should that be defiantly?) eating for two throughout.

I didn't want to end up the size of a hippo this time around though so payed a personal trainer an extortionate amount of money to guide me through some safe exercises that wouldn't put any stress on baby (or me!). Obviously, core work is out so we decided to concentrate on losing the fat from my arms and legs during my pregnancy and this would obviously make it easier when baby finally arrives to lose the extra tummy and bum fat.

This is one item of exercise equipment I was advised to buy and use, not this particular Thigh Toner but the pretty pink of this Pineapple one appealed more than the usual grey designs.

It is basically two curved bars which are attached in the middle by a strong spring. You put it between your legs and squeeze your thighs together, forcing the bars closer together. This will work the muscles in your thighs and also your calves to some extent.

This piece of exercise equipment is very stiff to use, I thought I was quite fit but it took me weeks to master this and be able to squeeze my thighs together close enough to move the bars to any degree. You can feel the burn in your muscles as you work out, and you do need some control in your legs as the Thigh Toner can and does slip out and fly across the room!

It can be used to tone your arms too, although I'm a weakling and struggle to use it on my arms. It is worth persevering with when it comes to your arms though as using it like this can also help to tone your chest muscles. I have no intention of breast feeding so intend to begin using it like this as soon as I have had the baby, as repeated pregnancies are definitely beginning to take their toll on my once pert boobs!

The Thigh Toner is very comfortable to use as the metal bars are both covered in a pink foam tube. This does make my legs a bit sweaty if I'm using it on bare skin, but still much better than using plain metal. Using the product as a pregnant woman, I also feel as though it is helping to strengthen my pelvic floor which is excellent as it will not only make the actual birth easier but will reduce the temporary (minor) incontinence I always suffer after having a baby.

I can see a very slight difference in the appearance of my thighs, obviously at seven months pregnant my body is undergoing changes so I won't see the overall results until I've had the baby. Saying this, I'm impressed with the feel of my muscles after using this for a few minutes each day and I think I will definitely end the pregnancy with slimmer legs than I started with.

        £7.99 from JJB Sports.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        One to be avoided.

My fiancé mark and I like to go to the gym twice a week. but sometimes there just are not enough hours in the day. As we are planning our wedding for next year I really want to keep well toned so I bought a few things from JJB Sports.
One of the items I got was the Pineapple Thigh Toner. I was attracted to this range mainly because its pink and looks nice and girly. It cost me just £7.99 which I thought was reasonable.
The Thigh Toner is a pretty standard piece of keep fit equipment and should be very easy to use.

It mainly consists of 2 curved metal bars with a soft pink covering. There is a spring in the centre so the bars can be pushed together. This is ,made of reinforced steel. The whole thing seemed very well made.

When it comes to using the Thigh Toner it should be simple. Just lie on the floor, knees bent and place the toner between the thighs and squeeze. Great! So one evening when Mark was out I got my Pineapple gym bits out and thought I would give them a go ( I also bought the dumb bells and the rowing action exerciser).

I laid on the floor, squeezed the toner and it shot straight out and across the room!! The cats who were at first extremely interested in what I was dong flew upstairs to the safety of the bedroom. I tried to use the thigh toner several times and the same thing kept happening. I felt really cross! What should have been an evening of nice gentle exercise was turning into a farce, and quite a dangerous one at that!

Over all I would have to say that I do not recommend the Pineapple Thigh Toner. It seems to have a design fault. I did think may be it was just me but I have since read several review on here and see that others have had similar problems.

In conclusion the item that should have helped to give me toned thighs and a great bum has been shoved under the bed. Another item for e bay.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Worth a look!

During my years as a budding Triple Jumper I experimented with a vast range of exercise aides intended to improve my performance in pretty much all aspects of the event. I have been attempting to review a range of the products I have tried over the past few weeks and am focusing on this Pineapple Thigh Toner at present. I had previously ignored products intended to just "tone" as toning doesn't really aid the sport and I was more focused on items to utilise strength. However, another member of the team mentioned he had been using these for a similar event and felt his thighs had felt in better shape, helped decrease fatigue in legs and added some strength. I was fairly pessimistic but nevertheless, after seeing them for only £7.99 in a local sports shop decided to give it a try.

After getting over the initial embarrassment of realising this item is a) only available and pink and b) suited for women (it was the only one in stock of any range for arguments sake) I took this home and began using it straight away.

As you can see in the picture the toner has a black frame with the padded part being covered by a pink foam. It's a well made product and certainly feels robust and wlel put together and not at all cheap. Its been used by myself and my partner for over two years now and is still in tip top shape so is very durable.

There are two ways to do the exercise to have most effect, either sitting down or lying on your back. The item goes in place between the thighs and you are required to use a downward push using the strength in the thighs to close the item together. It takes some effort and it will be harder than you expect. Its quite firm in between the legs though so there is no chance of it coming loose or flying off. After only one or two goes you will start to feel the force which is always a good sign that it is working. Its hard to do any more than about 20 in one go form the off but I started getting 30-40 reps in about 5 times a night and I noticed some muscle definition. It was a definite aid to my exercise and training routine and did seem to add some strength. I wouldn't recommend it to be used alone but in conjunction with a good training programme it will have effect. Worth every penny!

            My review

When the summer months arrived i decided i needed to shape up and fight the baby fat bulges. Pineapple have an amazing fitness range out all pink and girly. There equipment is very cheap and good quality. So fat i have purchased the ball, weights, dumbbells, slimmer belt, yoga mat, and more recently the thigh toner.
I liked the idea that i could sit watching the tv and use it at the same time.

The pineapple thigh toner costs only £7.00 from jjb sports.
The thigh toner is baby pink with a black frame.
The pink part is just foam covering the metal making it soft when squeezed.

The thigh toner goes between your thighs and you have to push down with the strength in your thighs and then release. You should do around 15 a day to start with.

The exercises can be done sitting down or laying on my side on the yoga mat and doing some many with with side and so many on the other side.
This is easy to use and builds the mussels in the legs and bum.

You can use it to build up the chest area and arms by pushing it in and out with your hands.

I liked this thigh toner but not sure i have noticed much of a difference in my legs yet.

I recommend the thigh toner, i feel its a good work out and very cheap.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

An average bit of kit for toning thighs.

Pineapple have a range of exercise equipment, most of which I haven't actually tried out only admired from afar, but I did purchase their thigh toner, a device which is meant to strengthen and tone thighs and bottoms.

Like the rest of the Pineapple range, the color scheme is an attractive mix of baby pink and dark grey, and I do like the colours. The pink makes it feminine but the black/grey tones it down and stops them being too girly for sensible use.

I bought mine from TK Maxx for around £5, but I have also seen Pineapple equipment in JJB Sports. I thought the price was reasonable for something I initially wanted to try out as a bit of a fad, to work alongside my yoga practice and other exercises.

It's a strange looking device, with a dark pivoting section in the middle and two bent 'legs' coming off the sides of this which are padded with pink foam. To use, you place it between your thighs, ideally whilst sitting or lying down (don't try it standing, it doesn't work properly!) and slowly squeeze your knees together. The thigh toner machine provides resistance to this and so makes your muscles work harder and firm up over time.

After a few minutes of use you can really feel the resistance on your legs and mine did start to ache not long after using the machine. You have to go slowly when using this, as if you try to rush, the device will work it's way out of the optimum position and can spring out between your legs. I find going slowly stops it slipping so don't rush!

After a few weeks of regular use (before I got bored with it) I found this to have a slight effect on the tone of my legs and thighs, and they did feel a bit firmer, though I don't know if that's wishful thinking!

As far as thigh toners go this is as good a device as a few other brand I have tried - it's a similar price and performs to a similar level, where it does firm thighs up a little with consistent use. For £5 you can't really go wrong if you have the time to devote to this thigh training toner.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            -

Whilst looking for the Pineapple Fitness Ball, I was pleased to find the Pineapple Thigh Toner for £7.99 which I thought was fairly cheap. I was also desperate to tone up my thighs as I have never been overly happy with them.

Like the fitness ball, the thigh toner is pink but it didn't have the giant display of "Pineapple" across it. It does match all the other gym equipment though and does not look out of place. The toner is a strange looking thing, sort of like a bendable boomerang!

It is easy to use. It is simply a case of putting it between your thighs and squeezing and releasing. This is supposed to build and shape outer thighs, firm the inner thighs and give you a better shaped bum as well as toning your arms and chest if you use it in your hands. Sounded great to me! Plus you get to lie down whilst you doing the thigh toning, though this sounds great, it actually isn't! It is lucky that it was simple to use as I didn't receive any instructions with it. Having had a look around on the internet, I have found this to be a common problem.

On paper, this sounds like an amazing piece of equipment to use at home in reality, however, it is a huge disappointment. Every single time I have tried to use this, it has slipped away from my thighs and either clattered to the floor or nearly hit someone as it flew out when I pushed my legs together. I don't know about being something to improve fitness, I think it is more of a health hazard! After many times of perservering with it, I gave up and threw it back in the box. And I didn't bother with the arm and chest work out after two times as it was the most boring and ineffective exercise. It probably works really well on the chest and arm area should you keep going with it but you are practically just standing still doing it. I can think of many other active ways to tone and strengthen your chest and arms as well as being able to burn off more calories.

I found the toner to be an absolute waste of my time and my money. Do yourselves a favour and avoid it like the plague unless you actually have someone who you would like to see hit in the head with this piece of rubbish when it slips from your thighs!

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

A waste of time and money.

I was lucky enough to receive some Debenhams vouchers last Christmas, so I excitedly toodled off to our local store during the January sales. I was hoping to buy a new bag, maybe a party dress or some pretty shoes- definitely not sports equipment!

I happened to stumble across their sports equipment while I was looking at a little black dress in the Pineapple section. Until then I had been unaware that Debenhams or the Pineapple brand section sold any kind of fitness equipment. I fell in love with the little black dress, it was so sparkly and pretty- but very very tight! Not a forgiving shape following my Christmas and New Year indulgences! So it was for this reason that I wondered over to the sports equipment to see if there was anything that would help me tone up and lose a few pounds.

I have never been happy with my thighs, while I am not overweight as far back as I can remember they have been wobbily and unshapely. The Pineapple Thigh Toner seemed perfect. No expensive gym membership, no lycra-clad perfect people wandering about making me feel even more insecure about my wobbly bits, and it seemed like using the Thigh Toner would fit easily into my day.

The full price of the Thigh Toner was £8, but it had been reduced to £4 in the January sales. It felt like I had nothing to lose, so I bought it and was rather looking forward to trying it out- I really wanted to tone up for my dress! As you can see from the picture, the toner is pink. I don't really like the colour pink, but as it was cheap I wasn't overly fussed. However, any macho men thinking of ordering one may be less than impressed with there being no alternative colour to choose from.

Using the toner is supposedly very simple. You lie on your back with your knees bent, and hold the toner between your legs. By gently pushing your legs together, you are then working and toning up your thigh muscles. The first time I used this, I am embarrassed to say that when I gently pushed my legs together, the toner went flying across the room. This happened on countless occasions, and as a result I had to stop using it for fear of breaking something when it flew off! Whether this is down to my poor technique or if it is a genuine fault witht he product I'm not sure. However my sister had the same problem when using it, and I see Partygirl09 (who has also reviewed this toner) had similar issues. There are no grippy bits on the ends of the toner that sit on your legs- perhaps if there had been then the toner might have stayed put better.

The instructions tell me I can also use this to tone my arms. At least by holding it in my hands, the toner didn't take flight, but at the same time this makes for a pretty dull work out. Personally I prefer doing exercise to (loud!) music, and I would usually use dumbells during a dance keep fit video to work on my arms. I felt silly standing there just squeezing the toner. I don't doubt it would tone arms if you had the patience to use it frequently enough, but there are much more fun ways to do this. Maybe I'm just a fidget but I would rather be bouncing about than standing still, and combining toning with a cardio routine is also burning off more calories.

In summary, I really can't recommend this product. I thought it was badly designed, and should have had some kind of grips on the end of the arms to help keep it in place between the legs. For me personally it was a waste of time and money, and it did nothing for helping me get into my dress! If you can find it anywhere for a bargain price then maybe it is worth giving it a try, but don't have high expectations of this toner as sadly you will most probably be disappointed.

Not The Easiest Or Most Effective Way Of Toning Thighs.

This is the most recent item i have purchased from the Pineapple workout range, ive only had it about 6 weeks at the most which isn't really that long. But to be honest im not that impressed in comparison with the other items i own from the same range. (All of which i have reveiwed on DooYoo!!) Heres Why:

              *What Is It*

I had never heard of a thigh toner before seeing this in TK Max but considering it was cheap and i find the other Pineapple gym equipment so effective i purchased anyways. Inside the box i wasn't surprised to see that the signature colour scheme of baby pink and black had been upheld, meaning i now pretty much have a complete pink gym in my bedroom!!! The toner is a slightly weird looking thing that i don't really know how do describe so just look at the picture and you will just see it for yourself LOL.

              *What It Does*

You use the toner by quite simply squeezing it between your thighs in order to build your strength and increase firmness. The toner is used to tighten arms, tone your chest, shape and firm both inner and outer thighs. Looking online you are suppose to get an instruction leaflet with it but i didn't which to be honest i think was more to do with where i purchased it from as it was very cheap and the box was battered and i dont think this is a reflection of the product.

              *Where To Buy*

I purchased this for a fiver from TK Max but the Pineapple gym equipment is also stocked in JJB Sports, The thigh toner is priced at £7.99.

              *What I Thought*

You can definitlety feel the thigh toner working prettty much straight away however i did find it quite hard to use compared to the other equipment as it kept slipping and i got annoyed and frustrated quite quickly and cant really use this for very lonmg periods of time. I still us the toner from time to tim but not as much as the other gym equipment as personally i dont think its as good.
