Disadvantages: May need to be used as part of wider training or exercise unit
During my years as a budding Triple Jumper I experimented with a vast range of exercise aides intended to improve my performance in pretty much all aspects of the event. I have been attempting to review a range of the products I have tried over the past few weeks and am focusing on this Pineapple Thigh Toner at present. I had previously ignored products intended to just "tone" as toning doesn't really aid the sport and I was more focused on items to utilise strength. However, another member of the team mentioned he had been using these for a similar event and felt his thighs had felt in better shape, helped decrease fatigue in legs and added some strength. I was fairly pessimistic but nevertheless, after seeing them for only £7.99 in a local sports shop decided to give it a try.
After getting over the initial embarrassment of realising this item is a) only available and pink and b) suited for women (it was the only one in stock of any range for arguments sake) I took this home and began using it straight away.
As you can see in the picture the toner has a black frame with the padded part being covered by a pink foam. It's a well made product and certainly feels robust and wlel put together and not at all cheap. Its been used by myself and my partner for over two years now and is still in tip top shape so is very durable.
There are two ways to do the exercise to have most effect, either sitting down or lying on your back. The item goes in place between the thighs and you are required to use a downward push using the strength in the thighs to close the item together. It takes some effort and it will be harder than you expect. Its quite firm in between the legs though so there is no chance of it coming loose or flying off. After only one or two goes you will start to feel the force which is always a good sign that it is working. Its hard to do any more than about 20 in one go form the off but I started getting 30-40 reps in about 5 times a night and I noticed some muscle definition. It was a definite aid to my exercise and training routine and did seem to add some strength. I wouldn't recommend it to be used alone but in conjunction with a good training programme it will have effect. Worth every penny!
Summary: Worth a look!
