Pro Fitness Ankle Weights
Advantages: Comfortable to wear; The velcro is mega strong so the weights stay in place
Disadvantages: A bit bulky
I've got a few sets of ankle weights because they're brill for putting under my jeans and just wearing them while I'm walking, I DO exercise a bit but prefer doing things that are not going to leave me all hot and sweaty and ways to work out that I can fit into my normal daily life.
These are wicked, no doubt about it. The weights attach to your ankles with a strip of strong velcro and are adjustable so that they will fit most people, obviously if you've got cankles (calves that go into your ankles without much shape) then you might have to check they are going to be able to do up comfortable. My ankles are stupidly thin, my legs are pretty much in proportion to the rest of my body but I've got such scrawny ankles that it's a bit of a joke with my mates that they're just going to snap one day as I'm walking!
Thinking of that I was a bit worried when I first brought these because they are quite a bit bulkier and go further up my legs than the other ankle weights that I've got. They're a lot more comfortable to wear than they look though, the weights are well padded and the material that touches my skin is soft so there has never been any rubbing or anything off them. It sounds weird but I actually forget I'm wearing them sometimes because even though they feel a bit heavy when I first put them on that feeling doesn't last and I get used to having them on dead quick.
Like I said before, they're quite bulky so you're not going to be wearing skinny jeans with them but I suppose that's not what the idea of these weights is anyway!
Each weight is 2 1/2 lbs so that's not massively heavy, if you do a good bit of walking in them you can feel the muscles in the bottoms of your legs working but they're not heavy enough that they're going to cause you any pain or anything like that. Yesterday I took my sisters to the farm and my pedometer said we had walked just over 3 miles, my legs was aching a bit more than usual but the important thing is that the weights never fell off or even slipped out of place so that is definately a good thing.
I recommend these to anyone who wants to work on strengthening their legs or even just people who want to tone up their leg muscles. They cost about £9.00 on Amazon so that doesn't make them the cheapest ankle weights ever but the quality of them is brill so that makes them worth the money.
