I spotted this item in my local Sainsbury's in their post Christmas offers aisle. Along with all their other 'get fit' equipment was this foam exercise mat for the bargain price of £3.99. My local store had it in either the blue shown above or a baby pink and I bought the blue version.

I needed a replacement for my old Pineapple mat which I had managed to spill meths on when using it as a carpet protector whilst repainting our bathroom - a very bad idea to start with but this is what happens when the mood takes me to get things done. It seemed sensible at the time but the meths I spilt managed to damage the plastic-esque lining and dissolve it in patches and therefore I ended up slinging it.

So, this was my supersaver replacement and I have to say you get what you pay for. This is a much thinner foam than my previous matt although it is fine for using on a hard floor still (I use it for floorwork - press ups and the like) I would not want to use it for prolonged periods of time. It feels like a value product which, I suppose, it is.

The other thing I notice about this matt is that on hard (laminate) surfaces it slips about more than my old one, the cover is not cross woven like my pineapple one was and that means it does not grip the floor as well. The matt is standard size (W 24" / L 60").

All in all you get what you pay for with this - a fairly flimsy matt but then for less than a fiver what do you expect? Ok for occasional use and very basic but it does what it says on the tin.
