Advantages: Easy to use, small enough to store away, do actually tone you up
Disadvantages: None that I have found
With the party season fast approaching I decided that I did need to do a little bit of toning. I have mentioned in my previous reviews that I have tried to keep fit but I do not have enough money to join a gym so I have to do what I can in my house. I also like things that do not take up a great deal of space so instead I look for pieces of equipment that can be kept in a wardrobe or draw and a piece of equipment that had caught my eye in a magazine was something called a Shaker Weight. After seeing a picture of the weights I decided to read on and the article had soon captured me. The article featured in my Glamour magazine and told me quite a lot about these weights and so the next step was to see where I could buy them, yes, the article had sold them!
The weights can be found in Sports shops but being a big fan of the website Amazon I was pleased to see that the weights could be brought on there and at a good price of £20.99 which really did impressed me as the recommended price in the magazine article was anything from this price and ranging up to £30.00. The weights soon arrived and all I had to do was put the work in!
The weights came well packaged and not only do you get the weights there is a DVD which when you read the packaging is there to give you advice on how to get the best out of the weights and to achieve the results. I think that this is a really good idea and although completely different I remember getting a DVD with some curling tongs and it really did help as you got a good explanation and this is exactly what the DVD does, it is far better than having to read through an instruction book! Although there is also a booklet that shows you some exercises that can be done with the weights.
The weights are very stylish looking and even though they are mainly white in colour they never really get dirty and after using all I do is give them a wipe down. They also have a chrome band around each end and there are two weights in total. The hint to what you need to do is in the title, you need to shake as you use the weights. The weights are a lot smaller than what I imagined them to be from reading the article; I would guess they are about 20 cm in length but i thought they may have been bigger. They are really easy to grip onto even when you are shaking them.
The idea is that because you are shaking the weight you are working out more of your muscles. The weights on each end are actually 2.5lbs but because you have to shake them around they do begin to feel that bit heavier. I started using these about a month ago now and I have been really good and used them on a regular basis, I only do a few simple exercises and for about 10 minutes each day but I have started to see my arms toning up so it is really clear that these weights are working.
I really do recommend these weights; they are not a bad price, especially if you get into using them every day. I like that they can be stored with ease and yet they are a really effective way to tone muscles up.
I give them 4 out of 5
Thank you for reading.
