Advantages: Looks Great
Disadvantages: Expensive, ultimately just a container for carrying liquids
At first when we bought this, I thought it was a waste of money, £10 for a water bottle!!!
In the past I had simply finished off a 2 litre supermarket bottle of water and refilled it (Taking off the label, depending on where it came from) before taking it to the gym, however, my partner who is much more up on these kind of things suggested that a Sigg Swissness bottle was a wonderful long-term investment, it had recently been reviewed in Zest Magazine and she was adamant we would buy one and as we would share it, I could console myself that it only cost me £5 rather than £10.
The bottle is aluminium and does look very cool, in the gym people do look at it wondering what amazing concoction must be inside it, little knowing it is simply H2O, the bottle has the Sigg insignia, a large red Swiss national symbol (Because the company are Swiss) and a red bottle top which is screw on.
The bottle looks very cool and attracts a lot of attention, it has a one litre capacity and is large but ergonomically sound. The aluminium is breakable and you could damage the bottle by dropping it or bashing it against things making a once beautiful item look much less so and destroying its main pull. Putting it in your gym bag you have to be careful not to put it close to heavier items for disk of denting it.
The bottle has a screw cap which ensures it is easy to tighten, it doesn't leak or offer and issues in this sense, it has some kind of inner layer which reduces after-taste, toxins and anything that might affect the taste of your drink, when my partner told me this I didn't really think much of it as I didn't notice these in my old empty water bottle, but you definitely can notice the difference, chill in the fridge before use and you have fresh untainted drink which really is refreshing without offering any metallic or other after-taste.
Available in many outlets, we bought ours from Amazon for a tenner and I think if I paid this myself i'd feel it was overpriced, by sharing the cost i'm much happier that it is worth the £5 I spent. It looks cool, is very handy and ergonomically impressive but it is a water bottle it doesn't do anything else, so unless you can share the cost or get it as a gift this isn't necessary, I wouldn't miss it if we didn't have it, it is more of a status symbol and for people who want to believe what they are told. It looks nice and does its job but i'm not sure its worth the money and I think when it starts denting it will look very ugly very quickly.
Summary: An unnecessary luxury
