Advantages: strong, sturdy and drinks taste as they should
Disadvantages: expensive
Years ago, i bought a cheap imitation of the original Sigg bottle from a pound shop when out on a hiking trip in South-west England. However, within a few weeks i already started to notice that the inside had begun to rust which gave the water a funny flavour.
This bottle is the original Metal flask, and is still he best by far, despite hundreds of different knock-offs over the last few years. As can be seen from the logo in the picture, these bottles originate from Switzerland and apart from a few minor changes have remained roughly the same since they were first created.
Firstly, what is great about their bottle is that it is incredibly strong and sturdy! Its tough aluminium outer casing holds up to pretty much anything you can throw at it. I have had mine for about 4yrs and despite a few little dents it is in perfect condition! Coupled with a great rubber seal on the screw cap lid, this bottle never leaks and is pretty much indestructable!
You may believe from its appearance and what i have mentioned about how strong it is that this bottle is very heavy - but you would be completely wrong. The aluminium makes it incredibly strong but still very lightweight. Although it is slightly heavier then you standard plastic bottle its strength makes up for the slight, and i mean only slight, weight increase. This version also does not have an outer colour, meaning that the colour does not scratch off which is an added benefit.
However, by far the best thing about this bottle is the special coating which is applied to the inner side of the bottle. No matter what liquid you keep inside it, the coating means that it never rusts, so your drink remains the taste it should do!
Everything must come at a cost and i am afraid that that is the only downside to this bottle. It retails at around £15. However, in my opinion, it is well worth the cost as unlike other bottles, it will last a lifetime!
Summary: amazing bottle for outdoor adventures
