I was bought a pair of these little dumbells a few months ago when I decided it was time to try to keep as fit as I can whilst I can! I have the smallest ones- just 1kg in weight but they do go up to much heavier sizes so you can buy more to suit your fitness levels. Being very unfit and 'older' I didn't want to try anything other than the lightest weight first to see how I found it.
The weight is a bright green colour which makes it look less clinical and more inviting to use than the metal ones or boring black.
They have round ends on them and a smooth 'handle' in the middle which is where you hold them. They are vinyl so I thought they may be a bit awkwrd to hold especially if you have sweaty palms but I have never had a problem getting a good grip with them and find them actually very easy to hold and use.
The ends are where the majority of the weight is but they're even so it's very comfortable.
I use them for toning my arms and find that they don't make my shoulders ache or cause any problems. I have increased how many times I use them a day and now I am looking at buying the next weight up.
One thing I will say is that they are not dog proof! My labrador has had a good gnaw on one and has managed to make some teeth marks in them so do be careful if you have pets around!
I'm very pleased with my set and I am looking forward to getting the next weight up.
Sissel make a large variety of dumbells and training equipment. The particular items I'm reviewing today are the TheraGear vinyl coated dumbells. They come in a selection of weights, from the little 1lb, right up to the 20lb and are displayed on a TheraGear specific stand.
These weights can, as with any professional dumbbell, be used for a variety of exercises, from the standard bicep curl, to more elaborate presses and dips.
The weights come with a pleasant vinyl coating, which makes them easy to pair up in the instance that you get them jumbled, and also makes them a lot easier on the skin (especially if like me, you have slightly delicate hands).
The prices range from $1.98 to $34.98 for the dumbells, and the rack will set you back about $400, so it's not a cheap investment. However, they do look particularly good, and are perfect if you're setting up a home gym, or just looking for a bit of style in your weights room.
