Part of my plan for this year is to get fitter and tone up. I may be past my prime but I want to try and be as healthy as possible. I do not have the desire to join a gym and want to just begin my fitness route gradually. For Christmas I was bought some weights and these bands.
The aim of these bands is to tone your muscles in a relatively simple and cost effective way.
I got one in a packet and it cost £5. The one I have is dark green.
It comes with a book with ideas in and positions. What you do is hold it in various ways and the stretch so you are working your muscles. It is essentially a very large piece of elastic which is very strong and so when you do go to stretch it out it is quite difficult to do (especially if you have your arms/legs in a specific position) and so it helps to tone your muscles up in this manner.
When I saw it advertised I thought it looked a bit rubbishy and how could it possibly work but a few friends said that they had one and that they thought it was very good and so I thought for such little money it was worth trying.
Am I glad I glad I was bought it? Yes I am! I know I haven't owned it long but so far I have used it twice a day every day. Some of the positions to hold it in are quite straight forward such as standing on one end with my foot whilst my legs are apart and then holding the other end with my hand and then bringing my hand up towards my shoulder in a curling manner. This helps to strengthen arm muscles. There is also other, more complicated positions which involve lying down or having your arms behind your back and so forth, these work out different muscles.
Sometimes after using this I feel a little achy which I think is a sign that I worked out harder than I anticipated.
Some of the positions I struggle to do at the moment as I am so unfit but I'm looking forward to buliding up to be able to do them properly.
I like this. I like that you can just fold it away after using it and pop it in a drawer so it's not in your way and intruding in your room like other exercise items. It's relatively tame and you can buy DVDs which incorporate this into the work out so it can be very useful. It hasn't made me hugely fit yet but I know that I have been able to use it and feel that it has made a little difference. I hope that it will continue to keep me motivated to use it as I would like to see some proper effects from it soon.
I can't give it anything less than 5 stars!
