York Fitness Handgrips
Advantages: You can exercise while you're watching Eastenders; Effective
When I subscribed to a fitness magazine last year I got these York Handgrips as part of a freebie, the normal price is about £6.00.
They are really just a strong spring with foam handles. You exercise your lower arms just by squeezing them, it's not as easy as it sounds though because the spring on these is mega hard to squeeze so when you first start using them there's no way you'll be able to squeeze them all the way shut! Unless you're built like Arnie anyway and then you'll probably think these are a bit of a waste of time!
The foam handles are comfortable to hold and even though the spring is very strong it doesn't HURT to use the grips. It's just a case of you'll be able to squeeze as far as you can and then you won't, no pain! lol
I've been using them quite regular because they're ideal for when I'm just sitting watching tv or whatever, the exercise looks mega simple I know but believe you won't want to do it for above 5 mins because you'll definately ache the next day if you try and overdo it. The good thing about these is that you can use them in all different positions to work out different muscles. I usually hold them down because I want to get a bit of strength in my hands and lower arms but then I'll do a few squeezes holding the grips out to my sides, that makes the muscles in my shoulders and chest work.
I definately think the muscles in my arms look more defined, I'm not a STRONG person anyway but I think there is a difference after all these months. One thing I've noticed is that I don't ALWAYS have to get my dad to take the lid off the Bovril any more so my arms must be getting a bit stronger because I could never do that all on my own before!
These are still in wicked condition even though they have been used most days for MONTHS now, and now just by me because my dad likes doing a few reps with the grips ever since he done a ligament in in his arm. He said they're helping him get his strength back and I reckon for someone with a problem like him they would do even more than they are for me who is just using them to shape up a bit. None of the foam has come away and they are as comfortable to hold as ever, even more actually because as time has gone on the foam has moulded nice into the shape of my hand so I can always get a nice grip on them.
Recommended..... an easy way to work the muscles in your hands and arms, but you'll do more work than you think just by looking at them!
