York Fitness Handgrips
Advantages: Firm bulid. Two strengths, Comfy foam padding, Easy to use, no focus or attention needed
I purchased a set of York hand grips for strengthen my hands as i often get writers cramp even just writing out a birthday card. I do suffer from arthritis in my wrists after a quick chat with the doctor he thought the York grips would do the world of good as long as i use them with care and not over do the exercises.
York hand grips comes as a set and cost £5.99 from Amazon uk. York hand grips come in two strengths Strong or Extra strong, i purchased the Strong as i knew i wouldn't be able to cope with the Extra Strong strength.
York hand grips come in a compact small box that's white in colour with green trim, it does have the red york logo on and a picture of the grips too.
York hand grips are made from steel and have a large torsion spring at the top with two handles at the bottom. The handles are grey in colour with a foam covering around them for padding and grip. To use the York hand grips you basically hold a set of the grips one in each hand, the handles should be positioned in the palm of your hands so you can squeeze both handles with the thumb and fingers around them.
I don't use the York hand grips as much as i should and it also depends on my wrists if they are painful with the arthritis then ill wait until they feel better. On average i use the grips two or three times a week. Also the Strong strength is plenty for me to work with and i can only just squeeze them but can not get the handles to meet i guess if i used them more often or the stronger my wrists get ill be able too.
The good thing about the York hand grips as they don't take much attention, i can use these while watching tv. I use them for around 10-15 minutes at a time one in each hand and squeeze that's all there is too it.
The idea is to build up the strength in wrists, hands and forearms, during use i instantly feel all the tension and muscles working. I have noticed less cramp in my hands and wrists but cant tell if they are toning my forearms yet. I have had the York hand grips for seven months now. I thing they are good quality and a reasonable price for a good brand, i recommend the York hand grips.
Summary: Are these really working my forearms cant tell.
